www.breitbart.com/the-media/2019/04/27/whca-president-olivier-knox-my-crying-son-asked-will-trump-put-you-in-prison/I don’t want to dwell on the president. This is not his dinner. It’s ours, and it should stay ours. But I do want to say this. In nearly 23 years as a reporter, I’ve been physically assaulted by Republicans and Democrats, spat on, shoved, had crap thrown at me. I’ve been told by senior administration officials of both major parties that I will never work in Washington again. And yet, I still separate my career into the period before February 2017 and what came after. That’s because February 2017 is when the President of the United States called us the ‘enemies of the people.’ A few days later I was driving my then-11-year-old son somewhere, probably soccer practice, when he burst into tears and asked me, ‘Is Donald Trump going to put you in prison?’ At the end of a family trip to Mexico he mused if the president tried to keep me out of the country, at ‘least Uncle Josh is a good lawyer and will get you home.’ He then said the terms “fake news” and “enemy of the people” are not “pet names, punch lines, or presidential,” before adding, “We should reject politically expedient assaults on men and women whose hard work helps make it possible to hold the power to account.” The remarks came at the organization’s annual Washington dinner on Saturday night. President Trump and members of his staff, including Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, skipped the dinner to attend a Greenbay, Wisconsin rally. Sanders was the target of several attacks during last year’s speech by comedian Michelle Wolf.

Way to abandon any pretense of being a journalistic paper NYTimes:
The NYTimes responds:
The cartoon appeared in the April 25 international edition and coincided with the end of the Passover holiday and Shabbat, two days many observant Jews were not online. Almost, like it was planned, but it was simply a coincidence correct leftist?

www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-04-28/obama-slams-trumps-opinions-and-biases-during-dinner-honoring-nelson-mandelaMost people, or even most politicians, probably wouldn't consider a celebration of the life of Nelson Mandela, the former President of South Africa who led the dismantling of the Apartheid regime, as an appropriate venue for partisan political attacks. But as his supporters rarely miss an opportunity to remind us, former President Barack Obama isn't most politicians. Obama participated in a discussion at the Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington DC on Saturday in celebration of Mandela's birthday. But during the audience Q&A he couldn't resist taking a jab at President Trump. "If you don't know what you stand for and what your values are and what you believe, then you also don't know what can be compromised and what can't be compromised...what's situational and what's temporary. I change my mind all the time based on facts and evidence...the challenge we have in politics, and in every country, is when people start conforming facts to their opinions and biases instead of trying to shape their opinions based on the facts. If you're starting off based on facts, then we can have a discussion we can have an argument." The implication here is clear: Obama is using the same rhetoric that Democrats employed when they denounced the border crisis as a made-up emergency. We all know how that turned out. Of course, this dig comes just days after former Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein slammed the Obama administration for not revealing "the full story" about Russia's efforts to influence the 2016 election before the November vote, which sounds to us like an obvious example of manipulating 'the facts' to conform to your opinions (or, in this case, your hoped-for electoral outcome). "Some critical decisions about that Russia investigation were made before I got there. The previous administration chose not to publicize the full story about Russian computer hackers and social media trolls, and how they relate to Russia’s broader strategy to undermine America," Rosenstein said during the Armenian Bar Association’s Public Servants Dinner in New York. Regardless, we imagine Democrats will praise Obama's willingness to 'speak out' against his successor as another example of his bravery and leadership, just as CNN implied in a clip about the remarks below. Maybe somebody should tell them that the facts don't care about their feelings. www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-03-30/system-wide-collapse-texas-border-city-overwhelmed-surge-central-american-migrantswww.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/rosenstein-defends-russia-probe-rips-obama-administration-n998861

According to a new poll from the Morning Consult, 94% of Republicans, 82% of independents and 70% of Democrats agree that “people are too easily offended these days.” morningconsult.com/2019/04/24/pc-and-prejudice-gauging-divides-in-americas-culture-war/“Large swaths of these respondents agreed that the ‘rules’ about what they can and cannot say are changing so fast it’s difficult to keep up, that people are offended too easily these days and that the current climate prevents some people from saying what they believe because others might find it offensive,” the Morning Consult reported. “But these were sentiments also shared with a majority of the poll’s broader population, suggesting that when it comes to free speech, Americans are not as nearly divided as some would argue.” Interestingly, the majority of respondents across party lines believe that “people should be able to say what they really think, even when it might offend people.”

Stop with the victim hood.

Last week, the NYTimes also published a puff piece on Ilhad Omar: www.newsbusters.org/blogs/nb/clay-waters/2019/04/28/ny-times-chutzpah-unchecked-hate-toward-omar-has-american-muslimsWhile her choice of words has caused some of her own Muslim constituents to describe her as anti-Semitic, many American Muslims across the country are worried that the ongoing criticism of Ms. Omar is being motived by racism and Islamophobia, and they are concerned about the broader consequences for their communities, including a heightened sense that they are not welcome in the halls of power. …. But that momentum could easily be derailed, some say, and the blame for such a setback would lie not just with Ms. Omar’s poor choice of words or Mr. Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric, but also with Democratic leaders who appear reluctant to embrace the diversity they claim to champion. …. When Ms. Omar first came onto the national scene as a blunt-talking freshman congresswoman from Minnesota, Suldan Hagi, who is a Muslim immigrant from Somalia like Ms. Omar, understood how her comments and delivery could be perceived as hurtful and offensive.

Ok, this is hilarious because they elected the leaders who did what they wanted & now, they don't like the consequences. pagesix.com/2019/04/26/johnny-rotten-wants-cops-to-stop-homeless-punks-says-wife-cant-cope/?_ga=2.3198960.1123146593.1556366603-2054665944.1534505881He told her the homeless situation in his swanky LA neighborhood is so bad that thieves are tearing the bars from the windows of his multimillion-dollar home, lobbing bricks, setting up unsightly tent cities and littering the beach with syringes. “A couple of weeks ago I had a problem,” the former punk prince opined. “They came over the gate and put their tent inside, right in front of the front door. It’s like . . . the audacity. And if you complain, what are you? Oh, one of the establishment elite? No, I’m a bloke that’s worked hard for his money and I expect to be able to use my own front door.” ........ Rotten added of the punks: “They’re aggressive, and because there’s an awful lot of them together they’re gang-y. And the heroin spikes . . . You can’t take anyone to the beach because there’s jabs just waiting for young kids to put their feet in — and poo all over the sand.” ......... Another case of NIMBY: www.cbsnews.com/news/san-francisco-homeless-shelter-fight-residents-raise-80000-to-stop-homeless-shelter-in-wealthy-area/Some San Francisco residents are turning to crowdfunding to raise money to fight a proposed homeless shelter in their wealthy neighborhood. As of Monday morning, the effort had raised over $80,000 of its $100,000 goal. Calling itself “Safe Embarcadero for All,” the organizer is appealing to residents of South Beach, Rincon Hill, Bayside Village, East Cut and Mission Bay, saying the money will be directed to a legal fund to pay for efforts to fight the homeless shelter. San Francisco Mayor London Breed has sponsored legislation to fast-track the building of the Navigation Center, which would house 200 homeless people a stone’s throw from Google’s San Francisco offices and Gap’s headquarters. ........

www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-04-22/san-fransisco-needle-exchange-leaves-streets-littered-toxic-syringesSan Francisco officials are debating if they should continue a needle exchange program that has left city streets littered with hazardous waste. We have made an uncomfortable observation on social media: Thousands of needles are scattered on city streets, most likely came the Department of Public Health’s needle exchange program. San Francisco Board of Supervisors expects to approve a seven-year extension of the exchange program, could cost taxpayers a whopping $26 million. Overall, the city handed out 5.8 million free syringes in 2018, and a large number of those were simply thrown on to the streets when addicts were done using them.

www.city-journal.org/seattle-residents-rebelling-homelessnessIn the past two weeks, Seattle Is Dying has garnered 38,000 shares on Facebook and nearly 2 million views on YouTube. The report has clearly resonated with anxious, fearful, and increasingly angry Seattle residents. Exhausted by a decade of rising disorder and property crime—now two-and-a-half times higher than Los Angeles’s and four times higher than New York City’s—Seattle voters may have reached the point of “compassion fatigue.” According to the Seattle Times, 53 percent of Seattle voters now support a “zero-tolerance policy” on homeless encampments; 62 percent believe that the problem is getting worse because the city “wastes money by being inefficient” and “is not accountable for how the money is spent,” and that “too many resources are spent on the wrong approaches to the problem.” The city council insists that new tax revenues are necessary, including a head tax on large employers, but only 7 percent of Seattle voters think that the city is “not spending enough to really solve the problem.” For a famously progressive city, this is a remarkable shift in public opinion.

dailycaller.com/2019/04/29/cartoonist-defends-anti-semitic-nyt-cartoon/caricature of President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended his work Monday in a Portuguese newspaper. The cartoon in question, which appeared in Thursday’s New York Times international paper, featured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a dog with a Star of David collar leading a blind Trump, who is wearing a yarmulke. There was no caption or text alongside the caricature. “It is a critique of Israeli policy, which has a criminal conduct in Palestine, at the expense of the UN, and not the Jews,” said António Moreira Antunes, who goes by António, in an interview with Expresso, a Portuguese paper where he works. “The reading I made is that Benjamin Netanyahu’s politics, whether by the approach of elections or by being protected by Donald Trump, who changed the embassy to Jerusalem by recognizing the city as capital, and which first allowed the annexation of the Golan Heights and after the West Bank and more annexations in the Gaza Strip, which means a burial of the Oslo Accord, it represents an increase in verbal, physical and political violence,” he continued. “It is a blind policy that ignores the interests of the Palestinians. And Donald Trump is a blind man The Star of David [Jewish symbol] is an aid to identify a figure [Netanyahu] that is not very well known in Portugal.” The New York Times issued two separate editor’s notes Saturday and Sunday respectively. It says in part, “We are deeply sorry for the publication of an anti-Semitic political cartoon last Thursday in the print edition of The New York Times that circulates outside the United States, and we are committed to making sure nothing like this happens again.” Netanyahu. This one depicts a blind Netanyahu holding a tombstone that has an Israeli flag drawn on it. The backlash surrounding the Times’ cartoon coincided with a terror attack that left one person dead when a man opened fire Saturday inside a California synagogue. (RELATED: One Dead, Several Injured In Shooting At San Diego Synagogue) The Times did not respond to a request for comment about Antonio’s comments.

floridapolitics.com/archives/295096-val-demings-pushes-to-keep-feds-from-buying-teachers-gunslegislation that would forbid the U.S. Department of Homeland Security from directing counter-terrorism money toward arming teachers. Demings is a former Orlando police chief who led the charge to expand Homeland Security counter-terrorism grants to cities such as Orlando. On Monday she expressed her steadfast opposition tousing such money to arm teachers, as she announced the re-introduction of her bill, “The Secure Communities and Safe Schools Act.” That bill was first introduced in a Republican-controlled House of Representatives last year, cleared one committee, and then went nowhere. This year’s model may find more traction in the now Democratically-controlled House, though it’s not likely to see a companion piece go anywhere in the U.S. Senate. In a news release, Demings said she is re-introducing the bill after the Florida Senate voted last week to allow for school districts to let teachers volunteer to bring guns into the classroom, as last-lines of defense against potential terrorism or mass-shootings such as the 2017 tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School that killed 17.
