So, these are the shovel ready jobs Obama was talking about way back when. Seems San Francisco & California has the market cornered:
All kidding aside, it is a perfect example of socialism. It takes a beautiful city/State/country and turns it into a literal $[%+ hole.

amp.desmoinesregister.com/amp/3549676002The longest-serving Republican in the Iowa Legislature said he's leaving the party, in part because of his disapproval with President Donald Trump. Rep. Andy McKean, who represents Anamosa in the state House of Representatives, announced Tuesday that he plans to register as a Democrat and vote with the minority caucus. "With the 2020 presidential election looming on the horizon, I feel, as a Republican, that I need to be able to support the standard bearer of our party," McKean said during a news conference at the Capitol. "Unfortunately, that's something I'm unable to do." McKean said Trump is just one part of a bigger national trend of partisanship that made him feel out of place in the Republican caucus. McKean said when he joined the Iowa Statehouse 40 years ago, there were many moderates in the Republican Party. But now, he said, the ranks have thinned. I think the party has veered very sharply to the right," McKean said. "That concerns me."

Home Depot Co-Founder on Socialism:
Full transcript:
Hi, everyone. I want to start by saying something politically incorrect. I love America, I do. I love America because it's the greatest country in the world. I think there are two big reasons why this country is so great. The first is our Constitution which guarantees our freedom of speech and expression. The second is our free market system. The free market system has been the biggest creator of wealth and prosperity the world has ever known, lifting billions of people out of poverty and far more superior than any government program could ever be. The free market is the tool that allows money to reach out and grab hold of the American dream. When I co-founded the Home Depot in 1979, I'd just been fired and I was broke.
There's no other country in the world that is a system where someone under these circumstances could turn a simple idea and hard work into a company that employs more than 400,000 people and has created thousands of successful millionaires. While I'm no longer in the management of the Home Depot I still believe in the free market enterprise system that helped build it. That's why it pains me to see people in this country glorifying socialism. Young people especially have been indoctrinated into believing that free enterprise is immoral because it enriches the greedy and depresses the poor. Even the word capitalism is not politically correct to use, but the reality is that the free market system has created the biggest middle-class population in the world and while some may say socialism is well-intentioned, the fact is it robs people of their independence, their dignity, and their finances leading to government dependence, suppression of ideas, and lower standards of living for those under its thumb. Free enterprise just doesn't create an environment where individuals have the opportunity to prosper but makes charitable giving possible in the first place.
It's not a random occurrence that Americans are the most charitable people in the world. It's a result of hard work, entrepreneurship, and yes, a free market system because in order to give money you need to make money, it's not an evil concept. In the last 15 years, I've donated to causes that have included in medical research, autism research, advocacy for veterans causes, and even building the Georgia Aquarium. Call it whatever you like, free market, free enterprise, or even capitalism. I don't care, as long as you understand that these free-market ideas have made giving back in these big ways possible. One of my favorite causes is the Job Creators Network, a group I founded to champion these free-market ideals. Efforts like these are more important now than ever as support behind socialism continues to swell in our urban areas, and academia, and even in the halls of Congress. I encourage you to help us in this fight go to our website JobCreatorsNetwork.com and make your voices heard. Thank you.

www.dailywire.com/news/46352/cnns-stelter-trump-skipping-correspondents-dinner-ryan-saavedraCNN's Brian Stelter claimed on Tuesday that Trump administration officials skipping the White House Correspondents' Dinner constituted an "attack against the media." The Washington Times reported on Tuesday that Trump is going to skip the event, for the third year in a row, and that White House Cabinet Secretary Bill McGinley "announced that all Trump administration officials are being ordered to boycott the dinner." "The president and members of his administration will not attend the White House Correspondents Dinner this year," a senior administration official told The Times on Tuesday. "Instead, Saturday evening President Trump will travel to Green Bay, Wisconsin where he will hold a campaign rally." In a clip flagged by NewsBusters' Curtis Houck, Stelter made the remarks on "CNN Newsroom" with Brooke Baldwin. "It is an awards dinner and a fundraiser," Stelter said. "In the past, presidents have shown up even if they were angry at the press at any given time and, importantly, it’s useful for White House aide to schmooze with reporters." "It’s helpful for us to get to know our sources," Stelter continued. "There’s some value in these sorts of festive events, but it is, as you said, another example of a tradition at least being put on pause during the Trump age. Here’s what the Correspondents’ Association says. They said, basically, they don't mind either way and this event is about celebrating journalists and the First Amendment and so the show will go on. There is the statement about this weekend's dinner and dinners in the future." "But look, it’s yet another example of what we’re seeing. This administration’s attack against the media takes many forms," Stelter concluded. "One form is the President having a rally this Saturday instead of attending the dinner and I do think it matters mostly because what it means about these tensions continuing to escalate. It makes you wonder, you know, there’s been all this talk in the Mueller report about the President making orders, making orders and then being ignored. Yesterday he told Kaitlan Collins nobody disobeys my orders and then what happens today? An order not to attend the dinner this weekend. Makes you wonder if that’s all a coincidence or not." Stelter's spin, that Trump is attacking the media by not attending a media event, is dishonest at best as it ignores the overwhelming attacks Trump administration officials have faced from the media and the overwhelmingly negative coverage news networks, especially CNN, gives the administration on a daily basis.

Brexit related: www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/04/24/seismic-shock-veteran-tory-ann-widdecombe-defects-to-farages-brexit-party/Tory Grandee Ann Widdecombe has defected to Nigel Farage’s new Brexit Party, remarking that it was time to deliver a “seismic shock” to the establishment parties. Widdecombe, a former Conservative MP and Shadow Home Secretary said that she will stand for the Brexit Party in the upcoming EU elections due on May 23rd. The move would seem to end a lifetime of support for the Conservative Party, which included time served as a Member of Parliament, minister, and shadow minister through the Thatcher, Major, and Hague eras. Speaking of her defection, Ms Widdecombe said she wanted to “fire a very loud warning shot across the bows” of the establishment parties. She also described Prime Minister Theresa May as “hopelessly inadequate”, reports Sky News. news.sky.com/story/tory-grandee-ann-widdecombe-to-stand-as-brexit-party-candidate-11702160Widdecombe stressed that she would still vote for the Conservatives in upcoming local elections but would stand for the Brexit Party in the EU elections in order to ensure Brexit is delivered. She said: “What the Remain campaign failed to achieve by fear must not be achieved by fatigue.” Speaking to Talk Radio Wednesday morning, fellow Tory Grandee and Brexiteer Iain Duncan-Smith lamented the loss of Widdecombe to the Brexit party. In remarks that betray the loss of obviously conservative figures away from the increasingly centrist Tory party, the former party leader said: “[Widdecombe is] incredibly popular among grassroots Conservatives and I also think she’s pretty popular among the public… I think lots of people thought that was great and I think she’s a formidable force.” Duncan-Smith also questioned why it was that someone as distinguished and high profile as Widdecombe was never elevated to the House of Lords by a Conservative Prime Minister after she officially retired from politics in 2010. Unmentioned by Duncan-Smith was Widdecombe’s opposition to David Cameron’s leadership of the Conservative party and the fact that his followers continue to control the party.

Can’t wait for the leftists to spin this one: amp.dailycaller.com/2019/04/24/tesla-carbon-dioxide-mercedesA Tesla Model 3 is touted as a zero-emissions car by government regulators, but it actually results in more carbon dioxide than a comparable diesel-powered car, according to a recent study. When the CO2 emissions from battery production is included, electric cars, like Teslas, are “in the best case, slightly higher than those of a diesel engine, and are otherwise much higher,” reads a release from the German think tank IFO. www.cesifo-group.de/ifoHome/presse/Pressemitteilungen/Pressemitteilungen-Archiv/2019/Q2/pm_20190417_sd08-Elektroautos.html“It’s better read as a warning that new technologies aren’t a climate-change panacea. Recall the false promises about corn and cellulosic ethanol,” The Wall Street Journal editorial board wrote of the study. (RELATED: 2020 Democrats Back Plan That’s Already Raising Electricity Prices) Driving a Tesla Model 3 in Germany, for example, is responsible for 156 to 181 grams of CO2 per kilometer, compared to just 141 grams per kilometer for a diesel-powered Mercedes C220d — that includes emissions from producing diesel fuel. IFO looked at electric car production in Germany, which is heavily reliant on coal power. Electric car emissions in other countries depend on their energy mix, but Germany is the world’s third-largest electric car maker. China and the U.S. are the first- and second-largest electric car producers, respectively. China gets 65 percent of its electricity from coal power and the U.S. relies on coal for 27 percent of its electric power. China is also the top battery-producing country, using coal power to produce batteries for electric vehicles that are then subsidized for being “zero” emissions. California, for example, requires automakers to cut greenhouse gas emissions in cars by producing lower emissions vehicles or buying credits from companies, like Tesla, that make electric vehicles. At the federal level, the U.S. gives tax breaks of up to $7,500 per electric vehicle. Federal subsidies for Teslas are set to be phased out since the company, founded by Elon Musk, hit the 200,000-vehicle production cap. However, Congress is debating whether or not to extend electric car subsidies. It’s not just battery production, but charging vehicles that emit lots of CO2. Germany gets 35 percent of its electricity from coal-fired power plants, so charging a Tesla in, say, Bavaria results in 83 grams of CO2 per kilometer driven. “Over the long term, hydrogen-methane technology offers a further advantage: it allows surplus wind and solar power generated during peaks to be stored, and these surpluses will see a sharp increase as the share of this renewable energy grows,” study co-author Christoph Buchal, professor of physics at the University of Cologne, said in a statement. IFO isn’t the first research group to conclude electric cars might not reduce carbon dioxide emissions as promised. A study released in 2018 also found driving electric cars might come with higher emissions than diesel vehicles, largely because of lithium-ion battery production. Likewise, a Manhattan Institute study from 2018 also found putting more electric cars on the road would likely increase emissions compared to internal combustion engine vehicles. dailycaller.com/2018/10/16/study-electric-vehicles-dirty/dailycaller.com/2018/05/15/electric-vehicles-hardly-help-environment/

So much for that whole “poverty creates jihad” talk Democrats love to say:
Wealthy brothers Inshaf and Ilham Ibrahim calmly walked into the luxury Shangri-La and Cinnamon Grand hotels and detonated their vests as guests were eating breakfast. Their attacks claimed the lives of at least 41 foreigners, including eight British holidaymakers – three of whom were children. Hours later, as police raided their mansion in an exclusive neighbourhood of Colombo, Ilham’s pregnant wife Fatima blew herself up, killing her three children and three officers.

Talking about black hawk down: Sergeant Major Kyle E. Lamb, a 21-year veteran with U.S. Army Special Operations who served in Mogadishu, Somalia and Iraq, blasted Omar on Tuesday. thefederalist.com/2019/04/23/fought-battle-mogadishu-heres-ilhan-omar-gets-wrong-black-hawk/“I take special exception to Omar’s disgusting comments because I served in the Battle of Mogadishu, which was later portrayed in the movie ‘Black Hawk Down,’ ” ........ The simple truth is that Omar enjoys the fruits of American combat deaths, yet she can’t even bring herself to acknowledge the ultimate sacrifice that was made on her behalf, either as a Somali or an American. Her clan didn’t stand a chance against Aidid and Habar Gidirs, so I don’t blame her for leaving. But I do blame her for attacking those of us who had zero personal interest or investment in her nation for doing our jobs on behalf of our country. And I blame her for smearing American servicemen because we answered the call of our nation to address the violent barbarism of hers. Unlike Omar, I’m not a politician. I don’t have power or influence. I don’t have a vote in Congress or the ability to direct America’s foreign policy. I’m just one of the men who strapped it on as a member of Task Force Ranger and went into harm’s way to help bring peace and security to her and her people. And let me tell you, she missed a helluva fight.

www.sun-sentinel.com/news/florida/fl-ne-gillum-ethics-hearing-20190424-story.htmlFormer gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum agreed Wednesday to pay a $5,000 fine to settle an ethics complaint that he violated civil law by accepting a gift from a lobbyist, and the state Ethics Commission agreed to drop four additional counts of violations, his attorney said. The settlement, announced in Tallahassee just as Gillum was to go before an administrative hearing, ends a lengthy ethics investigation that factored heavily in the Democratic candidate's unsuccessful campaign for governor last year. Republican then-candidate Ron DeSantis repeatedly criticized Gillum over the allegations, which involved the former Tallahassee mayor's travel to New York and Costa Rica and his alleged acceptance of a free ticket to the Broadway show "Hamilton." Gillum denied the accusations at the time.

dailycaller.com/2019/04/24/jb-pritzker-governor-tax/Democratic Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, the nation’s wealthiest politician, is reportedly under a federal criminal investigation related to a residential property tax appeal. The investigation into Pritzker has been going on since October, a law enforcement source familiar with the investigation told WBEZ Chicago. www.wbez.org/shows/wbez-news/source-feds-probe-illinois-gov-jb-pritzker-first-lady-for-property-tax-appeals-on-gold-coast-mansion/afb5e34e-e7f5-4113-a110-ac8ec98bca63Illinois voters already knew a little bit about the background of the investigation. It is related to a toilet scandal that earned him the nickname the “porcelain prince” and haunted his candidacy. (RELATED: Congressman Who Wanted To Oust Pelosi Wants To Take On Trump In 2020) Pritzker agreed to refund a $330,000 property tax break in October after a county inspector general found a “scheme to defraud,” reported the Chicago Sun-Times. Pritzker was accused of disabling the toilets in his 12,500-square-foot Chicago mansion so it could be declared uninhabitable, which would have allowed Pritzker to pay lower taxes, according to ABC 7. Pritzker’s opponent, Republican incumbent Bruce Rauner, had capitalized on the story on the campaign trail. “Simple fact, four of my nine predecessors as governor went to jail,” the former governor said during an October debate with Pritzker, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. “Mr. Pritzker has a very good chance of being No. 5.” Pritzker is the richest siting politician in the country, according to Forbes. Pritzker is a venture capitalist and heir to the Hyatt Hotel fortune and is worth more than $3 billion. There are no signs that criminal charges are coming in the investigation, WBEZ reported. Illinois first lady M.K. Pritzker and her personal assistant Christine Lovely are also caught up in the toilet scandal. Lovely made “false representations” on tax appeal documents according to a Cook County inspector general report. She will be represented by the same lawyer, Reid Schar, who helped disgraced ex-Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich on corruption charges, WBEZ reported. The Pritzkers are being represented by lawyer Marc Elias, who’s known for working with many top Democrats.

www.nationalreview.com/news/fbi-raids-baltimore-mayors-city-hall-offices-home-amid-corruption-probe/FBI and IRS agents on Thursday raided the home and city hall offices of Baltimore mayor Catherine Pugh as part of an investigation into possible public corruption, the Blatimore Sun reported. Pugh took a leave of absence from her position earlier this month after it was revealed that she made $500,000 selling copies of her Healthy Holly children’s-health book to the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) while sitting on the system’s board. It was later revealed that health insurance provider Kaiser Permanente paid Pugh $100,000 for 20,000 copies of the book while the company was seeking a lucrative contract to insure the city’s employees. In total, Pugh made $800,000 selling copies of her book to local entities since 2011, according to the Sun. Agents also raided the Maryland Center for Adult Education, a local non-profit that Pugh used to run. Pugh apologized in March for having “done something to upset the people” and returned $100,000 to the UMMS. She has maintained, however, that she did not exploit her position for personal financial gain. “All my income is reported to the IRS and everything is filed,” Pugh told the Sun when asked whether she would release her tax returns publicly. “I don’t know what witch hunt y’all are on, but it’s done. I’ve got 1099s and I pay my taxes and everything is filed.”

dailycaller.com/2019/04/25/progressive-caucus-dark-money/chairs Reps. Pramila Jayapal and Mark Pocan omitted in their financial disclosure forms that they were board members of a dark money nonprofit group in 2017. Jayapal and Pocan’s omission of their ties to the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center (CPCC) could open them up to civil and criminal penalties, lawyers told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “These positions clearly were reportable. It seems pretty cut and dry to me,” said former general counsel to the National Republican Congressional Committee Jessica Furst Johnson. The Congressional Progressive Caucus’s two leaders could face civil and criminal penalties for omitting their membership on a dark money group’s board in their House financial disclosure statements, legal experts told The Daily Caller News Foundation. The two co-chairs of the progressive caucus, Reps. Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Mark Pocan of Wisconsin, served on the board of the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center (CPCC) in 2017, according to the nonprofit’s 990 tax form from that year, the most recently available. But neither lawmaker disclosed their board position on their 2017 financial disclosure statements, as required by the House Committee on Ethics. “These positions clearly were reportable. It seems pretty cut-and-dry to me,” a former general counsel to the National Republican Congressional Committee, Jessica Furst Johnson, told TheDCNF. Conservative political law attorney Cleta Mitchell told TheDCNF the potential penalty for lawmakers who file inaccurate financial disclosures could include civil fines and “potential criminal penalties for perjury for filing false reports.” But both Furst Johnson and Mitchell said it’s unlikely the non-partisan Office of Congressional Ethics will penalize Jayapal and Pocan. “Under the Ethics in Government Act, if it’s a knowing and willful failure to disclose, then they’re subject to penalties both civil and criminal,” Furst Johnson said. “There is a little bit of leeway that’s typically granted with respect to financial disclosures. The committee seems to give the benefit of the doubt that an omission was unintentional.” “But if it’s a knowing and willful violation, that’s certainly not the case,” Furst Johnson added. Errors on financial disclosures statements aren’t uncommon — some 30 percent of House members had filed amendments to correct their initial disclosures, Roll Call reported in 2011. The most common mistakes lawmakers make on their financial disclosures involve misreporting assets, capital gains, mortgages and pension plans, according to the House Ethics Committee. However, omitting positions on the board of an outside nonprofit organization, like what Pocan and Jayapal did, is not cited by the ethics committee as a common mistake.

Fine, let them do that. Consequently, they lose their FAA certifications,(especially part 139), and their tower is shut down. They can turn those run ways into drag strips. www.kiro7.com/news/local/king-county-airport-will-begin-banning-ice-detainee-flights/942974968“Here in King County, we are a welcoming community that respects the rights of all people,” King County Executive Dow Constantine. “My executive order seeks to make sure all those who do business with King County uphold the same values. Our goal is to ban flights of immigrant detainees from our publicly-owned airport, and I hope members of Congress shine a light on this practice and how it is currently funded.” Constantine’s office realized King County Airport was being by used by ICE to transport illegal aliens in 2016 so an executive order was signed to stop the “deeply troubling human rights concerns inconsistent with the values of King County.” There are eight specific points to Constantine’s order: Take steps to minimize King County’s cooperation with the transportation of immigration detainees. Work with Congress to develop laws addressing deportation practices that contribute to human rights abuses. “Ensure that all future leases, operating permits and other authorizations for commercial activity at King County International Airport contain a prohibition against providing aeronautical or non-aeronautical services to enterprises engaged in the business of deporting immigration detainees (except federal government aircraft), to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.” The county will develop procedures to ensure contractors comply with laws around human trafficking and county policies. Revise airport standards, and develop rules for operating permits for charter carriers and reporting responsibilities with “respect to human trafficking and immigration detainee deportation activities.” Make amendments to existing code. Install security cameras around the airfield and nearby ramps. Quarterly updates detailing progress toward goals in the executive order. Constantine’s order does not affect Sea-Tac Airport.

dailycaller.com/2019/04/26/mika-coast-guard-lieutenant-bail/Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski berated the federal judge who ordered the release of former Coast Guard Lieutenant Christopher Hasson Friday morning. Hasson was accused of stockpiling weapons and plotting a terrorist attack. His hit list included Democratic Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Chuck Schumer, and Cory Booker, as well as Democratic Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar. Hasson’s target list also included media personalities such as Chris Cuomo, Don Lemon Chris Hayes and Joe Scarborough. “…I have to ask, why?” Brzezinski responded after hearing the news. “How can this be? …The warning signs are right there. And I say this as the wife of someone who was on that list, so you may hear a little intensity in my voice, but I think Trump’s doing this.”(RELATED: Coast Guard Lieutenant Allegedly Planned To Slaughter Politicians and Journalists) She continued: How can I not do that math in my mind that the attorney general is making a clear decision here to make sure the lives of people who are being targeted continue to be in danger because they will not put together the pieces of this case? A stockpile of weapons, a list of people that he wants to kill. Are you serious? There’s no way not to let this guy walk? You’ve got to be kidding me. Someone give me a legitimate reason. It didn’t take Scarborough long to weigh in after the exchange. As someone who was identified as a target on the would-be killer’s list, he had a stake in the outcome of the trial. “If somebody threatens the president of the United States, they’re in trouble and get sent to jail. But if you have a plot to kill the speaker of the House, third highest ranking constitutional officer, you’re fine, you get out of jail — even though you have the manifesto, you have the weapons, the plans, and the means and you’ve expressed you’re going to kill the speaker of the House. Then you’re fine?” she continued. The guest attempted to cut in, adding that the time served was dependent on what the charges were during the trial. Brzezinski continued: Isn’t that the rub right there? What federal prosecutors decide to charge you with. And they didn’t. And Barr didn’t. And the U.S. Attorney didn’t. And yet, when the Republicans got gunned down, of course, everybody was asking why didn’t we do something before Steve Scalise and other Republicans got shot at. Who in the Hell would look at this manifesto and then say, you know what, this might be a tough case, I don’t know if we want to move it forward or not. Hasson was released on bail Thursday. The federal judge ruled that although he is facing weapons and drugs charges, the facts of the case don’t warrant continued detention. The key reason was that Hasson wasn’t formally charged with terrorism or attempted murder.
