www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/07/04/vice-on-fourth-of-july-america-is-a-constant-disappointment/Vice magazine has published timely Fourth of July advice for its liberal-minded readers: “How to Celebrate the 4th of July When America Is a Constant Disappointment.” The sub-headline reads: “If you feel like patriotism is morally repulsive right now, you’d be correct.” The article, by Leila Ettachfini, which was published last week but is still circulating widely on social media today, informs readers that America’s failures did not begin with President Donald Trump. Rather, as the first line declares: “America has always been bad, no matter who the president is or was.” The article continues: Since Trump’s election, however, the qualities that make America particularly bad—racism, sexism, homophobia, the institutionalized manifestations of each of these, et cetera—have been emboldened, forcing many people to reckon with the ugly reality of their beloved USA. “This is not America,” I keep hearing. But the truth of the matter is that family separation, a disregardfor Black lives, homophobia, and every other incarnation of white male supremacy are exactly what America is made of. The piece is not a satire. It includes advice for surviving the anniversary of American independence, including holding a Fourth of July event “focusing [on] a minority community you belong to” (who, the article presumes, might also dislike America) or purchasing party supplies ” from businesses owned and operated by indigenous people or other communities who face systemic disadvantages in the US.” Ettachfini also suggests that, if the Fourth of July must be celebrated, then readers should focus on those fighting the system, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) — and that they should take heart by looking forward to “the next 28-year-old Latinx congresswoman from the Bronx who just last November was still a bartender.”

More Hollywood meltdown: www.breitbart.com/entertainment/2019/07/04/hollywoods-salute-to-america-meltdown-apologies-to-the-rest-of-the-world/Triggered Hollywood stars took to social media on the 4th of July to fire off unhinged screeds about how President Donald Trump’s much-hyped “Salute to America” event, a tribute to the U.S. military, is just more proof of the dictatorship he intends to one day establish in America. “So we’ve got people cheering tanks that are rolling through the streets of the capitol and children in cages on our border. Happy Birthday, America!” said The Office star Rainn Wilson. Indeed, it doesn’t take much to send these Hollywood freaks into a frenzy. Add in an hour of praising the U.S. armed forces, flyovers, live musical performances, and a speech by President Trump, and let the melt down commence.

At a personal level, I hated it more. Let tell you something: When we were in the midst of July 4 after 9/11 when I was at the CIA, I thought we were celebrating defense of ideals, the right to live free and fair, the right to live according to those documents that our Founding Fathers established, the right of every person, every citizen in this country to pretend like they can be president, the right to have economic opportunity. I didn’t realize we were fighting for the chance to pay for guns, for weapons.” “I did national security,” he continued. “I thought this was about ideals. And now we’ve made it about the military. That’s not what the Founding Fathers gave us. They gave us the gift of ideals. At a personal level, excuse me, but now we have the Super Bowl that’s been invaded by politics – players are kneeling. The Women’s World Cup has been invaded by politics – a dispute about whether women can go to the White House. We have a stupid dispute about politics this week about whether Nike puts a flag on a shoe. Can we actually have a day with hamburgers, hot dogs and a few beers without a politician? Please, one day. And now we can’t because now we’ve got politicians saying let’s celebrate guns and aircraft and forget about the Founding Fathers who talked about being cautious with the standing military.”

www.breitbart.com/clips/2019/07/04/april-ryan-trump-schoolhouse-rock-july-4-speech-was-president-trying-to-recreate-his-history/Thursday on CNN’s wrap-up coverage of President Donald Trump’s July 4 “Salute to America” speech, American Urban Radio Networks’ April Ryan, also a CNN contributor, accused Trump of “trying to recreate” history with the address. Ryan pointed to several points of the speech in which Trump highlighted American achievements and contrasted those with times she felt he betrayed those moments. If you didn’t know better, and the list goes on – I could go on,” she said. “But if you didn’t know better, this president is trying to recreate his history before he celebrated the military. He needed this moment. If you didn’t know better, if you didn’t fact check or go back to what he said or had done about certain issues, it would be a soaring speech. But for someone who covers him day in and day out, and understands some of the issues, and I’m still checking on when he said the ISIS caliphate is 100% gone – we have to check that one as well. There are a lot of things in this speech. It may have been ‘Schoolhouse Rock,’ Trump version, but nonetheless, we still have to fact check. It was his attempt at a soaring moment for history.”

www.breitbart.com/the-media/2019/07/04/teen-vogue-on-independence-day-racism-and-patriotism-go-hand-in-hand/Teen Vogue took to Twitter and claimed “Racism and patriotism go hand in hand” by sharing an earlier article, which argues many of America’s prominent anthems are rooted in racism. The May 15 article, which drew immense criticism online and was titled ‘The Racist History of America’s Patriotic Anthems,’ discusses popular anthems that have been performed over the course of American history, including “The Star-Spangled Banner,” Kate Smith’s “God Bless America,” and “Dixie.” performed “God Bless America,” used racist language in a few of her other songs and contributed to America’s “racist history.” The author, who outlined Smith’s racist tone in a few other songs, failed to identify how Smith’s rendition of “God Bless America” was racist. Until earlier this year, Smith’s performance of the widely known anthem were once played during the seventh-inning stretch of Yankees games since the 9/11 attacks and before Flyers games since 1969. The author then went on to discuss “Dixie,” which was written by Daniel Decatur Emmett in the 1850’s. According to the article, the song “started out as a minstrel song, depicting happy, enslaved people in 1859” and later became the “unofficial anthem of the Confederacy.” Without pointing to direct racism in “Dixie,” the author noted that “Southern anthem” was “part of the score for the controversial movie The Birth of a Nation,” which “played a significant role in the revival of the Ku Klux Klan and the amplification of white supremacy.” The author then targeted one of America’s most popular anthems, “The Star-Spangled Banner,” which she stated “was written by a slave-owning Washington lawyer, Francis Scott Key.” Alluding to one of the anthem’s most prominent lyrics, “the land of the free,” the author stated, “Key wrote the poem that would eventually become the national anthem in 1814, during a time when black Americans were not free.” While discussing particular lyrics within the nation’s anthem, the author claims the poem was written to “celebrate the land of the free — white Americans.” The author went on to claim “songs that have no ties with problematic historic figures and aren’t blatantly racist with ‘hidden stanzas,’ the picturesque portrait of America these songs paint doesn’t align with the black experience, which is filled with mass incarceration, cruel and unjust murders, and policies put in place to continue the American tradition of systemic oppression.” “As black people, we’re expected to shut up and sing these songs that, for so long, declared and celebrated freedom that specifically excluded us; freedom that, in 2019, still doesn’t feel applicable to us,” the author wrote. With no direct evidence of racism referenced to from the national anthem, the article’s author also stated “we have a responsibility to do better” or else “we’re complicit in the continuation of racist traditions and behaviors that have been upheld in America since the first colonizers arrived.”

Soundcloud link at link: www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/07/04/exclusive-mo-brooks-colin-kaepernick-should-leave-if-he-hates-america/Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) says Colin Kaepernick, the former NFL player and the face of multinational corporation Nike, should leave the United States if he does not like the country. This week it was revealed that Nike had ditched the production and sale of a pair of shoes that featured the famous flag created by Betsy Ross at the behest of former President George Washington because Kaepernick was offended by the emblem. “After images of the shoe were posted online, Mr. Kaepernick, a Nike endorser, reached out to company officials saying that he and others felt the Betsy Ross flag is an offensive symbol because of its connection to an era of slavery, the people said,” the Wall Street Journal reported. Brooks told SiriusXM Patriot’s Breitbart News Tonight that Kaepernick should leave the country if he does not like America. States of America who don’t like America,” Brooks said. “They don’t like the foundational principles that have made us a great nation. And I would put Mr. Kaerpernick in that category.” “For him to protest a shoe because it has an American flag on it is absolutely absurd,” Brooks continued. “In my mind, perhaps he ought to consider moving to a country where he believes the laws are better for his purposes. I doubt he will do that because in this country, we’ve had over a million Americans die fighting for our liberties … and one of those liberties is freedom of speech … and all of these things that we enjoy, he seems to frown upon. So I just assume he leaves.” Brooks said patriotic Americans should “start boycotting companies like Nike” that are “embarrassed about the patriotism that has helped make America who we are.” As Breitbart News has chronicled, Nike has a long history of outsourcing and gutting most of all of its American manufacturing and U.S. jobs to send them to foreign countries like Honduras, China, Vietnam, and Indonesia in order to cut labor costs, grow profit margins, and employ cheap foreign workers. Nike’s record of outsourcing American jobs is so deep-rooted that in 1997, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) took to the Senate floor to denounce the corporation for employing foreign slave labor over hiring Americans. In 2017 alone, Nike laid off 1,400 American workers and sent their jobs to Honduras where it can hire workers for less than half the cost, according to some estimates. For more than three-and-half decades, Nike has employed most of its workforce in low wage Vietnam and China, rather than the U.S. For example, as of 2018, Nike had 46 percent of its products produced in Vietnam, where the yearly minimum wage is close to $1,000. About 27 percent of its products are made in China, where the average worker earns less than $5,000 a year.

Nike being called out for boycott of Betsy Ross flag, but bowing to the Communist Chinese government for their shoes: dailycaller.com/2019/07/03/nike-china-government-censorship/A Republican senator and the editorial board of a liberal newspaper both took Nike to task Wednesday for its Chinese partnerships. Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley accused Nike of “the worst kind of hypocrisy” for its Chinese dealings in light of the company’s decision to pull an American flag-themed shoe line following criticism from former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. “You would think that this would be something to celebrate — the ‘Betsy Ross’ flag, I mean Betsy Ross let’s not forget, an independent businesswoman, who had her own shop in Philadelphia, who designed our nation’s first flag, who sewed our first flag, I mean she’s truly a founding mother,” Hawley said in a Fox News interview. “This is something that is the best of America, and this is controversial to Nike? But meanwhile Nike’s sure willing to make a buck in China. They’re sure willing to partner with an authoritarian repressive regime. It’s the worst kind of hypocrisy,” added the Republican senator. Just days before pulling the “Betsy Ross” shoes, Nike pulled a shoe line from Chinese markets after the shoes’ designer tweeted support for Hong Kong protesters. The Washington Post hammered Nike for its Chinese censorship in an editorial published Wednesday evening. “Nike’s appeasement of China fits into a larger and more dangerous pattern of kowtowing by Western companies to Beijing’s demands for censorship,” the editorial board charged. (RELATED: IHOP Boycotts Tucker Carlson But Not Saudi Arabia) “For years, the West believed that foreign economic investment and the exchange of ideas that came with it would push China away from isolationism and toward democracy and the rule of law. Yet, so far, China has successfully leveraged its massive and increasingly wealthy consumer base to accomplish the opposite — forcing Western firms to curb free speech,” the Post’s editorial continued. “Foreign companies need to tread carefully. They should not abet China’s crusade against freedom of expression and democratic values,” it said. “The more they accept and legitimize Beijing’s censorship, the more complicit they are in cementing its authoritarian grip.” Nike did not respond by press time to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment on its partnerships with China and the canceled shoes lines. Catering to the Chinese government has been a consistent business strategy for Nike, which has a years-long running partnership with China’s Ministry of Education. “Nike has also caught on to a bit of luck in perhaps one of the most effective ways of engaging business in Asia: teaming up with the government,” Fortune magazine noted in a March 2017 profile. The Walt Disney Company, like Nike, has recently taken sides in American culture wars while appeasing China’s authoritarian government. Disney threatened in May to boycott Georgia over its new abortion law, even as the company profits from doing business in China, a notorious human rights violator that is putting Muslims in internment camps.

An activist in Los Angeles wants President Trump to come in and save their city:
My name is Alexandra Datig and I am calling on the President of the United States to intervene in Los Angeles due to the state of emergency created by its homeless crisis. In the county of Los Angeles, we have more than 59,000 people homeless. We have more than 36,300 people homeless in the city of Los Angeles, and we have more than 16,000 people living in his or her cars. We have more than 3,000 homeless veterans. Veteran homelessness was supposed to be ended by the year 2015 according to our mayor.
This has not happened.
We have had a 75% increase in homelessness in the past six years under the leadership of our mayor, Eric Garcetti. Our leaders, here in this city, have lost heart and cannot deal with the crisis at hand. Our police officers are getting sick; our social workers are getting sick. Our sanitation workers are being treated terribly. Trash problems are everywhere. We are having serious environmental crimes happening, every day, several times a day, where 59,000 people in the county of Los Angeles are dumping raw sewage into our storm drains, entering our waterways.
These are serious, serious environmental crimes. We have homeless youth; we have had, in the past five years, to 2018, more than 3,600 people die on the streets of Los Angeles. These people, who are living on the street, some of them, are sentenced to death by homelessness. This situation is completely unacceptable and we need a federal intervention immediately. We need FEMA; we need the Red Cross; we need the CDC and the Environmental Protection Agency. ......
Earlier this week, in an interview President Trump did with Tucker Carlson of Fox News, Trump stated of cities that have homelessness problems, “They’re run by very liberal people and the states are run by very liberal people … Do they really think this is okay? Because it’s not. It’s destroying their city and it’s destroying a whole way of life ... We may intercede.” .........

New York Rensselaer County Clerk Frank Merola plans on suing the state over the new Democratic law.
Merola says the licenses look exactly like any citizen’s license.
Frank Merola: If you’re here illegally the license they want to give them will look just like someone’s license… I said it in 2007 and I’ll say it again. It’s not about driving. If they want to give them a license that looked a little different than your license or my license they can do that. They want to give them a license identical to a license everyone holds to register to vote. And that’s exactly what they’re looking at. .......
Well, doing that makes it easier for the Democrats to steal elections.

Hmmm, seems someone should be censored/held legally accountable: www.dailywire.com/news/49204/democrat-congresswoman-secretly-sending-staff-ryan-saavedraDemocrat Rep. Veronica Escobar (TX) is secretly sending staff to Mexico to find and coach migrants who are trying to enter the United States and is instructing them how to "exploit a loophole" to game the asylum process, multiple U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials allege. National Border Patrol Council’s El Paso chapter and several CBP agents, Escobar's staff is trying to find migrants that have been returned from El Paso, Texas to Mexico "under the 'remain in Mexico' policy, then coaching them to pretend they cannot speak Spanish to exploit a loophole letting them return to the U.S." A senior union official shared evidence supporting their claims with the Examiner and said, “What we believe is happening is Veronica Escobar’s office is going … to basically second-guess and obstruct work already done by the Border Patrol.” Under the "remain in Mexico" policy, "anyone returned must be fluent in Spanish because they may have to reside in Mexico up to five years until a U.S. federal judge decides their asylum claim." Officials claim that Escobar's aides, who have sought interviews with thousands of migrants who were sent back to Mexico, are escorting the migrants back to the port of entry and are lying to CBP officials, telling them the migrants don't speak Spanish despite the fact that they spoke Spanish to the officials at an earlier date. "What we’re hearing from management is that they’re attempting to return people, and the story was changed in Mexico, where a person who understood Spanish before now doesn’t understand — where a person who didn’t have any health issues before now has health issues," a union official said. "They went through and interviewed everybody, cherry-picked them, brought them back, and now are using them as tag lines. They’re going over there and manufacturing a lot of these issues." Mark H. Metcalf, a former federal immigration judge, told the Examiner that a criminal case could be brought against Escobar if she is found to be involved in the alleged scheme, which amounts to fraud and making false statements to U.S. officials. The Examiner added that a DHS official noted the obvious, that Democrats "are furious" that these migrants are not allowed to "await their court dates in the U.S., where they have the opportunity to disappear and slip into the interior never to be seen again." CNN’s Fareed Zakaria ran a segment on Sunday about the problems with the asylum system in the U.S., saying that President Donald Trump is right about the situation and that fraud is rampant in the system and that the system is being abused and not used for the purpose that it was created for. Trump has made numerous statements about problems with the asylum process, including recently on Twitter: "The Democrats are allowing a ridiculous asylum system and major loopholes to remain as a mainstay of our immigration system. Mexico is likewise doing NOTHING, a very bad combination for our Country. Homeland Security is being sooo very nice, but not for long!"

amp.dailycaller.com/2019/07/05/supreme-court-new-york-gun-caseThe Supreme Court should dismiss a challenge to New York City’s gun transportation ban because a new ordinance will moot the case, city lawyers told the justices Wednesday. The ordinance and a newly enacted state law will give the plaintiffs who challenged the transportation ban everything they have sought in court, making dismissal the appropriate course, city lawyers wrote in a letter to the high court. The new city regulation gives petitioners everything they have sought in this lawsuit,” assistant corporation counsel Richard Dearing wrote. “The new state law, upon signature by the governor, will make the case doubly moot.” If the case is not dismissed, the city will continue arguing the dispute is moot in a legal brief due Aug. 5. They will not address the merits of the controversy, Dearing wrote. “If, however, this Court prefers to allow briefing (and potentially oral argument) to play out, respondents will file a brief on the designated due date maintaining in greater detail that the case is moot,” the letter reads. Respondents do not intend to address whether the Constitution entitles petitioners (or any other residents of New York City with premises licenses) to transport their handguns from their homes in the city to second homes, or to firing ranges or shooting competitions beyond municipal borders, where they have a legal right to possess them. Respondents no longer have any stake in that legal question,” it adds. The city seemed to acknowledge that the high court’s decision to review its gun regulations drove its decision to adopt new rules. Defending its transportation restrictions before the Court’s newly entrenched conservative majority seems a forbidding task for city lawyers. “It does not matter whether the defendant previously defended the now-defunct law,” the letter reads. “Nor does it matter whether this Court’s grant of review contributed to the government’s decision to take a fresh look at its legal regime.” (RELATED: It’s Not Donald Trump’s Supreme Court Yet) The New York ordinance at issue in the case permits licensed gun owners to carry firearms to one of seven authorized gun ranges in the city. License-holders are not permitted to transport their weapons outside the city. Three city residents and the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association sued the city, alleging those restrictions violate the Second Amendment. The plaintiffs want to bring their firearms to second homes and shooting competitions outside the city. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a district court ruling that sided with the city. In their letter to the high court, city lawyers said the 2nd Circuit’s decision should be lifted now that the case is moot. The Supreme Court decided to hear the case in January. It is the first gun rights case the justices have heard in almost a decade. The Trump administration is supporting the plaintiffs. The case is No. 18-280 N.Y. State Rifle and Pistol Association v. City of New York. Disclosure: The reporter’s wife was involved with this litigation.

www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/07/05/police-investigate-death-threats-to-movie-theater-owners-screening-pro-life-film-unplanned/amp/Police have been called in to investigate allegations of death threats made to cinema theater owners in Canada who had scheduled to screen the pro-life movie Unplanned. B.J. McKelvie, president of Cinedicon, the Canadian distributor of the film that tells the story of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood manager-turned pro-life activist, confirmed two Canadian independent cinema owners reported threats that caused them to be “fearful for their families,” said LifeSiteNews. Yet another independent theater owner was reportedly “harassed to the extreme.” Chuck Konzelman, one of the film’s producer-directors, reportedly said McKelvie requested, for the sake of safety, the film’s producers remove from their website the July 12 listing of 46 Canadian theaters that will be screening the movie. The death threats are reportedly aimed at the independent theater owners. McKelvie noted “they didn’t get anywhere with Cineplex, or they didn’t get anywhere with Landmark.” “It’s unfortunate it’s come to that,” he said. “It’s just a movie. The topic is certainly a hot topic. However, it is just a movie. I find it ironic, they talk about choice, pro-choice, pro-choice, pro-choice, but they’re not giving people a choice to go see the movie.” According to Kelowna Capital News, threats were reportedly made against theater staff via social media in Shuswap, British Columbia, prompting the theater to cancel the film’s screening. The staff of Salmar Theatres reported the threats and Salmar Community Association board member Chris Papworth confirmed Thursday the board agreed to cancel the film’s scheduled five-day run that would have begun July 12 at the Salmar Classic. “We have a track record of showing things from a variety of points of view … we try not to preclude things because of whatever personal opinions may exist on our board or something like that,” explained Papworth. “What’s different here … certainly in the past, there hasn’t been an effort to dox employees or, specifically, the general manager, by releasing their personal information on social media and then encouraging people to go after them as the one responsible for some heinous act,” he added. “We just aren’t prepared for those levels of hostility towards our general manager.” In Shuswap, the screening of Unplanned had been organized with the support of members of the local Pro-Life Society. “If they had just come out to picket while the movie is running, I could accept that,” said Hildegard Krieg, Pro-Life Society spokeswoman. “But I cannot accept that they should actually threaten somebody with violence personally and the family. That is absolutely uncalled for. A peaceful picket, OK, we walk through the picket line. But that is going too far.” Krieg said an alternative plan would be for the Pro-Life Society to have a private showing at the Classic.
