He's always been a peace, love harmony type of guy. It's not like he's Springsteen or CSNY.

.
Seems like it would be a long ass show. Never too much Danielle. I imagine I'll just go here and maybe Topeka. Hopefully there will be some new material - not that this album isn't great. I hope you'll go to see Sam this time. And DNB. And Davy. In 2019 we need to get your ass out after the blue plates.

I'm listening to the Crossroads 2 , Eric Clapton discs you sent me ........... there's songs from 1975 concert at Nassau Colliseum , I'm thinkin , damn, this was a great concert and why did EC not come to OKC.
Well, after further internet research, he did come to OKC in 1975 , played the Myrad on August 22, 1975 , it was the " There's One in Every Crowd " tour ........ and I knew I was stupid when I was young, but really, I had no idea that EC was even in town.
Every time I think I wanna be young again, I remember how stupid I was.

I've found EC was at the Loyd Noble Center at least two more times in the 1970's. LNC was once a concert venue , I think Led Zep played there what happened ?

My pledge class for the Neks stood in line and bought LZ tickets for that for the members. Springsteen - who I missed as it was my initiation night - , Dylan, LZ were all there my freshman year. Also saw Harry Chapin there - one of the best shows I've ever seen. I came back down to see the Police on the Ghost In The Machine tour. When they built LNC they built it with a multi purpose use in mind. It sure wasn't watching basketball.

Quite a bit from Layla.

Every time I think I wanna be young again, I remember how stupid I was. There's some really good stuff on that collection. Some really good long jams that he most likely doesn't do any more. Quite a bit from Layla. Combination of Derek and the Dominoes and his solo album " 461 Ocean Boulevard " . He also draws back on the Cream hits. Most of the Dominoes stuff is off the " Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs " album, which many rank one of the best of all time.
Two Tulsa guys are in the band, Jamie Oldaker on drums and Carl Radle on bass. Radle was also in the Dominoes, which had another Tulsa guy , Jim Gordon, on drums. Gordon later, about 1979, had severe mental problems, killed his mother, and is still in prison.
When Derek and the Dominoes was formed, they went to Miami and got a beach house and used a studio in Miami to record. That was about 1970. That's where they made " Layla and Other Assorted " . And while there, the Allman Bros toured Miami and the band went to their concert. EC invited Duane Allman to the recording sessions and he's on most of the songs. EC asked Duane to join the band, but as we know, he refused.
Then in 1974, EC went back to Miami and got a beach house at 461 Ocean Boulevard, and went to work on another album. He brought in Marcy Levy for vocals and George Terry to play rhythm guitar. This album had a laid back sound to it, lotta rhythm, lotsa reggae influence, it sounds like they were smokin a lot of pot. Had songs like " I Shot the Sheriff " and " Willie and the Hand Jive " .
But this is song represents the tone of the album

Probably my favorite song from that album. EC has made that his song, course its personal with him considering his relationship with Pattie Boyd. He's done many different versions but the ones I like most come from about year 2000 forward. His intros into the song are almost the best part. He's the best at that, he gets into song better than anyone.
This song was written by a black blues guy from the 50's, first covered by Freddie King around 1960. And I notice in that vid that EC is playing a big red Gibson 345, same guitar Freddie played
