All those shows at Knuckleheads ? Meanwhile, civic zealots in OKC are brainstorming ideas to spend $700 million to improve " quality of life " in OKC. Just get a good gawd damn music venue .... and get some blues/rock acts in town. Doesnt take millions. Acts like those at the KTBA Cruise , damn, have you seen Anitra Dance's vids she's posting from the cruise ? That was a damn blues/rock festival on the water.

All but 2. Sam is in Paola and Ally is in a place in Westport. $12 for her. now that's obscene. I will be seeing 5 of them for the 1st time.
Sorry about the scene in OKC. There should always be a spot for music.

Another gawd damn penny sales tax generating $800 million over a number of years, won't do it.
It has to be organic. It has to come from the grass roots, first thing, is people have to enjoy this genre of music and there's has to be enough of them to fill a small venue so the acts can make a profit.
But the only music people here will turn out for, is the arena acts, and specifically , the country arena acts. They go hog wild over those and then think we have a great music scene here ..............since we paid umpteen fucking million for the damn arena.
Again, its got to be organic ..........city government and civic zealots can not create that .

.
Luckily there was someone here like Frank to start and build Knuckleheads. We also have spots like BB's that was started by Lindsey Shannon who has been at the front of the blues scene forever. Toss in all sorts of bars and such where people can go play on a nightly basis and we have so many venues and artists like it here because people will support them. The scene here is so much more than Sam and Danielle.I'm to the point where I'm not interested in most of the bigger venues. A place like Starlight is an exception. As you see all of these are at small spots. I'd really like to go see Peter Frampton and also ZZ Top will be coming with Cheap Trick Both those shows are at Starlight. I haven't seen Billy gibbons forever and he's really good.
I wish I could snap my fingers and help you out. It sounds as if there's not much local support and a lack of interest.

Right, it takes people putting butts in seats, and not just to create some false air of community pride, because they actually enjoy the music , and pumping more tax money into this , won't help a damn bit. KC has always been known for blues music. Tulsa has a music legacy. That kinda thing can not be created by government.

Tomorrow the 4:20 celebration with Davy Knowles/Jeremiah Johnson Band/ Lily B Moonflower/Can't Find A Job - Talking Heads tribute. Not sure about the tribute. I was okay with the Th but probably will Skip it. Lily is a local artist so I'll give her a chance. The last two are no brainers.

Govt Mule came here a couple years ago, I think, they played the Diamond Ballroom which IMO, is a weak venue, standing only, no reserve seating. And Mrs Hermit was out of town so it did not matter anyway.

And Mrs Hermit was out of town so it did not matter anyway. I saw them either last year or two years ago. I'd seen them before with D Trucks. It's a good show but Davy won out. Just announced for a 2 night jam at Knux - Eric Gales, Nick Schnebelen Band, Albert Castiglia Band, Seth Lee Jones, Sarah Grace & The Soul, Heather Newman - among others. Also a yet to be named artist. $50 for 2 nights.

Monday - Allman/Betts with JD Simo. Really wanted to see JD Simo and had a really good time. A/B was good and they are talented and the best stuff was playing their fathers' music. I probably wouldn't go see them, again but I enjoyed the show.
Thursday - Indigenous. First time seeing Mato and was not disappointed. Song after song was crushed. Closed out show with Hey Joe, Vodoo Chile, a Santana type Soul Sacrifice tune, and Little Wing.
Saturday - Tommy Castro & The Painkillers with Amanda Fish. Good show from Sam's sister and her band.First time seeing TC. He can play and had several extended jams. Odd. He closed the set with a screamer - not sure what it was - and then played a snoozer for the encore.

Keb Mo makes an album inspired by Oklahoma. I saw him at the referenced benefit in 2013 with KWS. Was a helluva show, KWS was already scheduled at the Diamond Ballroom and then when the tornado hit Moore, he changed it to a benefit and called Keb Mo, Robert Randolph, to play along with opening act Trampled Under Foot. Keb’ Mo’ to release “Oklahoma”
