Federal Prosecutors in California charge Avenatti with separate charges: www.justice.gov/usao-cdca/pr/lawyer-michael-avenatti-arrested-federal-bank-fraud-and-wire-fraud-chargesAttorney Michael Avenatti was arrested today pursuant to a criminal complaint alleging he embezzled a client’s money in order to pay his own expenses and debts — as well as those of his coffee business and law firm — and also defrauded a bank by using phony tax returns to obtain millions of dollars in loans. Avenatti, 48, of Century City, was arrested today pursuant to a two-count felony complaint charging him with wire fraud and bank fraud. He also was arrested pursuant to a separate federal case filed in New York. According to an affidavit filed with the criminal complaint in this case, Avenatti negotiated a settlement which called for $1.6 million in settlement money to be paid on January 10, 2018, but then gave the client a bogus settlement agreement with a false payment date of March 10, 2018. The affidavit states that Avenatti misappropriated his client’s settlement money and used it to pay expenses for his coffee business, Global Baristas US LLC, which operated Tully’s Coffee stores in California and Washington state, as well as for his own expenses. When the fake March 2018 deadline passed and the client asked where the money was, Avenatti continued to conceal that the payment had already been received, court documents said. Avenatti also allegedly defrauded a bank in Mississippi by submitting to the lender false tax returns in order to obtain three loans totaling $4.1 million for his law firm and coffee business in 2014. According to the affidavit, Avenatti obtained the loans by submitting fabricated individual income tax returns (Forms 1040) for 2011, 2012, and 2013, reporting substantial income even though he had never filed any such returns with the Internal Revenue Service. The phony returns stated that he earned $4,562,881 in adjusted gross income in 2011, $5,423,099 in 2012, and $4,082,803 in 2013, according to the affidavit. Avenatti allegedly also claimed he paid $1.6 million in estimated tax payments to the IRS in 2012 and paid $1.25 million in 2013. In reality, Avenatti never filed personal income tax returns for 2011, 2012 and 2013 and did not make any estimated tax payments in 2012 and 2013. Instead of the millions of dollars he claimed to have paid in taxes, Avenatti still owed the IRS $850,438 in unpaid personal income tax plus interest and penalties for the tax years 2009 and 2010, court papers state. The affidavit also alleges that, as part of his loan applications, Avenatti also submitted a fictitious partnership tax return for his law firm. ....... Down goes another liberal hero.

www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-03-25/msnbc-anchor-avenatti-arrest-my-head-officially-going-explodeMonday has probably been the single most embarrassing day for members of "the resistance" and their partners in the cable news media since Nov. 7, 2016. Not only did Pulitzer prize winning journalist Glenn Greenwald trash the Russian collusion narrative as a "total fraud and scam" and "the saddest media spectacle I've ever seen," but the arrest of former Stormy Daniels attorney, one-time 2020 wannabe and prominent Trump antagonist Michael Avenatti has sent cable news reporters combing through their feeds to hastily delete any embarrassing tweets and photos. Before Avenatti's myriad personal scandals - ranging from physical abuse to stiffing former employees - finally caught up with him, he was a darling on left-leaning shows that aligned themselves with the "#resistance" - mostly on MSNBC and CNN. And now that he has been indicted by two different sets of federal prosecutors (on opposing coasts, no less) for trying to extort more than $20 million from Nike (a blue-chip company, no less), these same journalists who cozied up to Avenatti and helped inflate his presidential ambitions now find themselves in an extremely awkward position. Understandably, Avenatti's arrest, which seemingly came out of nowhere, was a lot to process for the pundit set. And no one articulated this sense of frustration and utter embarrassment better than MSNBC anchor Ali Velshi, who said Monday afternoon that his "head is going to officially explode" after news that Avenatti had been arrested on charges of extortion, bank fraud and embezzling money from clients broke. "My head is officially going to explode," Velshi said to NBC News Investigations reporter Tom Winter. "I don’t understand what this is about." Velshi then complimented Avenatti, calling him "one of the finest people in American in terms of his ability to garner publicity"... which of course is largely thanks to organizations like CNN and, drumroll, MSNBC, who for a year were delighted in granting him a generous podium to address the nation. To put all of this in context: Avenatti was booked on cable news shows - primarily CNN and MSNBC - roughly 200 times in 2018. That's a lot of air time for America's favorite "creepy porn lawyer." Watch the clip from Velshi's report below:

Let’s not forget this: www.fox32chicago.com/news/local/cook-county-state-s-attorney-kim-foxx-recuses-herself-from-smollett-caseCHICAGO (FOX 32) - Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx has officially recused herself from the Jussie Smollett case, according to Chicago police. Assistant State’s Attorney Joseph Magats is taking over the case. "Shortly after the incident occurred in late January, State’s Attorney Foxx had conversations with a family member of Jussie Smollett about the incident and their concerns, and facilitated a connection to the Chicago Police Department who were investigating the incident," a statement from the Cook County State's Attorney's Office read. "Based on those prior conversations and out of an abundance of caution, last week State’s Attorney Foxx decided to remove herself from the decision making in this matter and delegated it to her First Assistant Joseph Magats, a 28-year veteran prosecutor.”

www.breitbart.com/entertainment/2019/03/26/hollywood-heckles-andrew-sullivan-for-defending-middle-america-at-inclusion-event/Author and New York Times columnist Andrew Sullivan appeared at a panel event Monday about how Hollywood portrays “the other side” in film and was shouted down after he defended white, working-class Americans from what Sullivan calls Hollywood’s generalizations of them a “bigots” and “racists.” “These people who are already insecure about losing their job switch on the TV, look at the newspaper and hear that they are being described as bigots, racists,” Andrew Sullivan said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “And they resent it, and the one thing I would urge you people who do this type of content is try and complete the idea of ‘the other’ being in the room because they can hear what you are saying.” THR also reports that Sullivan was eventually shouted at by an audience member. Moments later, the author and New York magazine columnist doubled down on his idea, saying: “Don’t tell them everything is good. That you deserve it and that you are all basically slaveholders under their skin blah, blah, blah, which is what Hollywood is saying to them every second of the day.” Those comments, which were met with audible gasps, set the stage for an immensely tense 20-minute panel which ended in Sullivan being shouted at by an audience member, prompting the moderator to step in and end the panel. He later told a reporter, “When you’re a struggling, white working-class person in say, Kentucky, and a Yale student says, ‘You have white privilege,’ what do you think happens? [Donald] Trump gets elected — that’s what happens.” “And they don’t seem to understand any of the lessons from the last time and I don’t want [Trump] to be re-elected, but I don’t think the left is helping and I don’t think Hollywood is helping.”

www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-03-24/chick-fil-barred-san-antonio-airport-over-anti-lbgtq-behaviorThe San Antonio City Council held a vote on March 21 to ban fast-food chain Chick-fil-A from opening a concession at the city’s airport, according to Out in SA. The City Council voted 6-4 on the ban, citing the company’s extensive history of anti-LGBTQ donations. “With this decision, the City Council reaffirmed the work our city has done to become a champion of equality and inclusion,” Councilman Roberto C. Treviño told the news outlet in a statement. “San Antonio is a city full of compassion, and we don’t have room in our public facilities for a business with a legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior.” Besides Chick-Fil-A, San Antonio International Airport will include concessions for The Luxury, Smoke Shack BBQ, Local Coffee, Boss Bagels & Coffee, Spurs, IStore, Sip Brew Bar and Market, and Adina’s Market. The press release issued by the councilmembers was the first we heard of his motion and its approval by the San Antonio City Council," Chick-fil-A told The Hill in a statement. "We wish we had the opportunity to clarify misperceptions about our company prior to the vote. We agree with the councilmembers that everyone should feel welcome at Chick-fil-A. In fact, we have welcomed everyone in San Antonio into our 32 local stores for more than 40 years."

A Smollett family friend named Tina Tchen sent Kim Foxx an email saying, “Hi Kim – I sent an email to your work address I think as well. I wanted to give you a call on behalf of Jussie Smollett and family who I know. They have concerns about the investigation. I am on an 8 am flight to nyc but please call me before then. I land about 1015 Chicago time. My cell is [redacted]. Many thanks!” In one text exchange with a Smollett relative, Kim Foxx is reassuring them she spoke to the superintendent and asked for a favor. “I’ll keep you posted, “Foxx said in text. “Omg this would be a huge victory,” the Smollett relative said in response. “I make no guarantees, but I’m trying.” Foxx replied.

www.nationalreview.com/news/biden-condemns-americas-white-mans-culture/Biden Condemns America’s ‘White Man’s Culture’ By JACK CROWE March 27, 2019 9:35 AM Former vice president Joe Biden apologized Tuesday for presiding over Justice Clarence Thomas’s 1991 Supreme Court confirmation hearing and condemned the “white man’s culture” that he believes led a group of white lawmakers to aggressively press Anita Hill on the specifics of her sexual assault allegation against the nominee. “To this day I regret I couldn’t come up with a way to give her the kind of hearing she deserved,” he said Tuesday night at a New York City event celebrating students who fight sexual assault on college campuses. “I wish I could have done something.” Biden, who chaired the Judiciary Committee during the Thomas confirmation hearings, has been confronted with a rash of criticism over his handling of the hearings since he began to explore a run for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. During his speech, Biden argued that the hearings — during which Hill faced aggressive and sometimes derisive questioning from, in Biden’s words, “a bunch of white guys,” — were broadly reflective of the American system of jurisprudence, which he believes unfairly advantages white men at the expense of other demographics. It’s an English jurisprudential culture, a white man’s culture. It’s got to change,” he said. The former Vice President devoted a significant part of his remarks to condemning violence against women, particularly that which happens on college campuses, by drawing on his own experience as a fraternity member in college. “No man has a right to lay a hand on a woman, no matter what she’s wearing, she does, who she is, unless it’s in self-defense. Never,” he said Tuesday. “If you see a brother taking an inebriated co-ed up the stairs at a fraternity house and you don’t go and stop it, you’re a damn coward,” he added. “You don’t deserve to be called a man.”
