www.breitbart.com/2020-election/2020/01/09/live-updates-trump-holds-ohio-rally-2/President Donald Trump will hold his first 2020 campaign rally in Toledo, Ohio, on Thursday evening. Stay tuned to Breitbart News for live updates. All times eastern. — 8:25 PM: Trump says Democrats stand for “crime, corruption, and chaos.” He says Republicans are for “law, order, and justice.” He says his administration has ended “catch and release” at the border. 8:22 PM: Trump rips Democrats for betraying the American people on immigration and supporting sanctuary cities for releasing violent criminals, freeing them to rob and kill American citizens. “They want open borders,” Trump says. “Can you believe it.” Trump says Democrats want people flowing in, and he says innocent Americans are being killed by illegal immigrants across the nation. He says, thanks to Democrats, MS-13 gangsters were allowed to “infiltrate” the country. He rips Pelosi for criticizing him when he called them “animals” and proceeds to slam Pelosi’s district and how filthy it has become. 8:20 PM: Trump says while his administration is creating jobs and killing terrorists, Democrats in Washington are wasting America’s time with witch hunts. 8:19 PM: Trump says steel mills are “roaring back to life” because of his policies. Touts all of the investments in steel mills around the region. Trump says the industry “was dead” and “now it is vibrant.” 8:15 PM: Trump rips the Paris Climate Deal, saying it was meant to hurt the United States. He asks who would negotiate such a deal. Trump says he immediately cancelled Obama’s TPP, which Trump says would have been worse than NAFTA and delivered a “death blow” to the auto industry. He says the TPP was a “set up for the U.S. to get fleeced.” 8:09 PM: Trump says America lost 60,000 factories under the previous administration. He says he knows it is true because he has said if 50 times because and the “fakers back there” have never corrected him. “They’re all coming back,” Trump proclaims. “And right now, just in a very short period of time, we’ve added 12,000 brand new factories.” 8:07 PM: After talking about how he was honored when he heard the late Billy Graham voted for him and his strong Evangelical support, Trump goes back to the record-low unemployment rates and the 40 million American families who are benefiting from the GOP tax credit. 8:00 PM: Trump ripping Democrats running for president. He says watching the debates is like “watching death” and says one has to be “really committed to the country” to watch them debate for three hours. Trump mocks Biden for mixing up Iran and Iraq four times. He says he has made Hunter Biden’s first name “Where’s.” He asks: “Where’s Hunter?” He says he hopes Biden gets the nomination so he can ask him nine times a debate. Trump also rips Mayor Pete and says he can’t imagine him negotiating with President Xi. 7:53 PM: Trump rips Obama’s Iran Deal for helping Iran finance terror. He says Iran will not have nuclear weapons. Trump says “by subsidizing Iran’s malign conduct, the last administration was leading the world down the path of war. We are restoring our world to the path to peace–peace through strength.” 7:47 PM: Trump reminds the audience that we are a “long way” from the election. Still ten months to go. He’s again polling the audience on MAGA vs. KAG. More applause for KAG. 7:43 PM: Trump says this movement is bigger than 2016 because he has completed “more promises than I’ve made.” 7:37 PM: Trump says he got a call about Soleimani’s whereabouts and he didn’t have time to call Nancy, who Trump says is “not operating with a full deck.” He asks the audience why he should call “shifty Adam Schiff.” “You little pencil neck,” Trump says. He says his neck is “nine inches” and Schiff buys the shirts with the smallest collars and they are still loose. Trump says Schiff leaks to “crazy CNN.” Trump still ripping the media for getting Pulitzer Prizes for writing things that are wrong. He is now going off on the Nobel Prize–about how leaders in countries that he has saved are receiving the prize. He really really really wants a Nobel Prize. 7:35 PM: Trump says “Crazy Bernie” has “condemned the U.S. military strike” on Soleimani. He is now also mocking the “genius” “nervous Nancy” Pelosi. He says they are all saying, “How dare you take him out that way. You should get permission from Congress. You should come in and tell us what to do… So we can call up the fake news that is back there and we can leak it!” Crowd roars before and after Trump looks at the press and says, “that’s a lot of corruption back there.” Crowd also chants: “CNN Sucks!” 7:34 PM: “We stopped him quickly and we stopped him cold,” Trump says of Soleimani. He says the United States ended his “rampage,” and rips the radical left Democrats for expressing outrage over Soleimani’s death. Trump says he was the “king of the roadside bomb.” 7:31 PM: Trump says the country last week took bold and decisive action to save American lives and “deliver American justice.” Trump says Soleimani, “a sadistic mass murder,” spread death, destruction and mayhem across the Middle East and was responsible for the deaths of thousands of U.S. troops. He says the attack on the U.S. embassy was the “opposite of Benghazi.” Trump stresses that this was the “anti-Benghazi.” Trump says had they broken through the final panels of glass, it would have been another Benghazi–“hundreds of dead people or hundreds of hostages.” He says he called up his generals and told them: “Get ’em over there now!” 7:29 PM: Trump says he hopes we never have to use our “tremendous military.” He says the US is seeking friends and not enemies. But Trump says: “If you dare to threaten our citizens, you do so at your own grave peril.” 7:25 PM: Rally interrupted by two protesters. Crowd boos and chants “USA!” USA!” 7:22 PM: Trump focusing on trade and manufacturing. He says companies used to leave but now they are coming back to places like Ohio. He says he signed the largest ever investment in the U.S. military weeks ago and created the Space Force, and “everybody’s excited about that.” Crowd chants: “USA! USA! USA!” Trump says after years of devastating defense cuts, his administration has rebuilt the U.S. military, and it is “stronger and more powerful than ever before.” He says the military was “totally depleted” when he took over three years ago. 7:19 PM: Trump reminds the crowd that he was in Ohio a lot in 2016. He says 2020 will be “even better.” He says he is holding the first 2020 rally in the great state of Ohio. He says the economy is booming, wages are soaring, and workers are thriving as we begin the new year. He says America is the envy of every country in the world. He says there have been 7 million jobs created since his election and will soon be replacing NAFTA. President Trump is holding a #KeepAmericaGreat tonight in Toledo, Ohio! Ohio is BOOMING under President Trump’s pro-growth agenda. Nearly 100,000 jobs have been added to the Buckeye State since the President was elected—this includes over 13,000 manufacturing jobs. — GOP (@gop) January 10, 2020 7:15 PM: Pence concludes his warm-up remarks and introduces Trump to a raucous ovation. 7:00 PM: Vice President Mike Pence takes the stage and says Ohio and America need four more years of Trump in the White House. Pence says he stands with Trump when he takes “decisive action” as Commander-in-Chief to “save American lives.” Pence says instead of sending pallets of cash to Iran, the Trump administration got out of the Iran Deal and launched the first airstrikes against Iranian-backed militias and said, “No more Benghazis.” Pence says Iran appears to be standing down after retaliating for Suleimani’s death. Pence now hyping up the booming economy under Trump like he usually does. And the recent scandals involving Joe and Hunter Biden, Ukraine, and Burisma are just “the tip of the iceberg,” say sources close to the publisher. The upcoming book, Profiles in Corruption: Abuse of Power by America’s Progressive Elite, is the latest investigative work from Government Accountability Institute (GAI) President and Breitbart News senior contributor Peter Schweizer. Publisher HarperCollins has the book under a strict embargo until its January 21 release. Sources with knowledge of its contents say the book will “upend official Washington,” similar to the way Schweizer’s past works like Clinton Cash and Secret Empires did when he broke the Uranium One and Biden-Burisma scandals. Beyond the Biden revelations, Profiles in Corruption also contains chapters with breaking news on top progressive luminaries, including: Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, Amy Klobuchar, Kamala Harris, Sherrod Brown, Eric Garcetti, and Cory Booker. In a statement to Axios’s Mike Allen, the author described the book as “a sweeping, detailed look at how the leading figures of progressivism have leveraged the power of their positions.” The book reportedly took a year and a half to research. Amazon’s pre-sale book description of Profiles in Corruption states: “Washington insiders operate by a proven credo: when a Peter Schweizer book drops, duck and brace for impact.”

Brexit edging closer to reality: www.nationalreview.com/news/british-parliament-passes-brexit-bill-allowing-jan-31-date-for-withdrawal-from-e-u/British Parliament Passes Brexit Bill Allowing Jan. 31 Date for Withdrawal from E.U. By ZACHARY EVANS January 9, 2020 2:24 PM The U.K. House of Commons on Thursday passed a law allowing the country to separate from the European Union by January 31. In a vote of 330-231, elected lawmakers approved the Withdrawal Agreement Bill, which determines the parameters of Britain’s separation. The bill will make its way to the unelected House of Lords, which cannot overturn the legislation but can delay its passage into law. “I have no doubt that their lordships will have heard the resounding message from the British people on the 12th of December,” commented Brexit Secretary Stephen Barclay. On that day Brits voted an overwhelming conservative majority into Parliament, handing the opposition Labour Party its worst defeat in decades. The election and the bill’s passage were resounding victories for Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who has repeatedly pledged to “get Brexit done.” The U.K. voted in 2016 to leave the E.U., however Johnson’s predecessor Theresa May was unable to pass legislation authorizing the separation. If the U.K. withdraws on January 31 as expected, the country will then have to renegotiate its trading relationship with the 28-member E.U. bloc. “We cannot expect to agree on every aspect of this new partnership,” E.U. Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier told the AP. However, “we are ready to do our best in the 11 months.” In December several days after his victory, Johnson once again pledged to move the country toward separation. “Now is the time to act together as one reinvigorated nation, one United Kingdom, filled with renewed confidence in our national destiny and determined at last to take advantage of the opportunities that now lie before us,” Johnson said at the time.

8:42 PM: Trump says “you can have a country that goes to hell very, very fast” if Democrats win and “undo” his administration’s accomplishments.
8:39 PM: Trump says he is asking Congress to prohibit late-term abortions because Republicans believe that “every child is a sacred gift from job.”
He rips Democrats for all being in favor of late-term abortions where the baby is “ripped from the womb.”
8:32 PM: Trump says Democrats are “taking their cues” from Socialist Bernie Sanders, Omar, AOC, and Tlaib. He says they are the “leaders of the party.” He says Pelosi “shakes and quivers” when she meets them.
Trump says he loves the Green New Deal and it should be debated so Americans can hear about all of the absurdities associated with it eliminating farting cows.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is refusing to pay her dues to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, instead saying that she will funnel money directly to Democrats who are facing tough races. And, we’re back to Russia interference again. US intelligence and law enforcement is now investigating if Russia is targeting Democrat front runner Joe Biden in 2020 election meddling. Bloomberg reported that according to two officials, the probe is meant to assess whether the Kremlin is working to undermine Biden’s campaign by promoting his corrupt involvement with Ukraine. www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-01-10/u-s-probes-if-russia-targeting-biden-in-2020-election-meddlingU.S. intelligence and law enforcement officials are assessing whether Russia is trying to undermine Joe Biden in its ongoing disinformation efforts with the former vice president still the front-runner in the race to challenge President Donald Trump, according to two officials familiar with the matter. A Kremlin strategy to undermine Biden would echo its work in 2016, when American intelligence agencies found that Russia carried out a sophisticated operation to damage Democrat Hillary Clinton and ultimately help Trump, according to the officials, who asked not to be identified discussing the sensitive matter. A signature trait of Russian President Vladimir Putin “is his ability to convince people of outright falsehoods,” said William Evanina, director of the National Counterintelligence and Security Center, while declining to comment on whether U.S. intelligence is investigating a possible Russian campaign to undermine Biden. “In America, they’re using social media and many other tools to inflame social divisions, promote conspiracy theories and sow distrust in our democracy and elections,” Evanina said in a statement. “As we look ahead to 2020, one thing I can guarantee is they’ll keep up their influence campaigns and utilize new vectors of disinformation.”

www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/01/11/u-s-and-taiwanese-officials-celebrate-president-tsais-re-election-victory-over-pro-beijing-candidate/WASHINGTON, DC — American and Taiwanese officials celebrated President Tsai Ing-wen’s reelection on Saturday, in what is widely considered a rebuke to China. Tsai won in a landslide victory over pro-Beijing candidate Han Kuo-yu, the mayor of Kaohsiung, the second largest city in Taiwan. “The people in Taiwan proved that democracy works,” said Ambassador Stanley Kao, Taiwan’s top representative in Washington, D.C., at an event marking the election. James F. Moriarty, the top American diplomat in Taiwan, was also at the event to celebrate the occasion. “It’s a great morning for Taiwan and for all people who believe they should decide their own futures,” he said. “In 2020 we will work closely together to advance our shared interests and values.” Randy Schriver, until recently the assistant secretary of defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs, echoed his remarks. “This is in fact a great day for all the people of Taiwan,” said Shriver, chairman and founder of Project 2049. “Its democracy is such a key part of why Taiwan is internationally admired,” he added. “There will be many people in China wondering ‘why can’t we go to the polls.'” Since Tsai’s election in 2016, China has ramped up diplomatic and military pressure on Taiwan in an effort to isolate the self-governing island. China considers Taiwan a breakaway province, while Taiwan maintains it is a separate nation and the only Chinese-speaking democracy. The U.S. switched its diplomatic ties from Taiwan to China in 1979 but maintains robust informal diplomatic relations with Taiwan and a duty to help Taiwan defend itself against China. China’s current president has pledged to reunite the two by 2049, including by force. Tsai’s party, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) favors the status quo between China and Taiwan, while Han’s party, the Kuomingtang (KMT), favors closer relations with Beijing. Tsai’s victory had been far from certain. But after mass protests broke out last summer in Hong Kong against what protesters saw as Beijing’s increasing violations of Hong Kong’s autonomy under the “one country, two systems” policy, support for Tsai swelled. Han “never recovered from the political impact of the protests in Hong Kong,” said Derek Mitchell, president of the National Democratic Institute, during a panel discussion at the event. Noting Beijing’s efforts to spread disinformation ahead of the elections, the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ Bonnie Glaser said Beijing “has not succeeded in bullying and intimidating Taiwan.” Jonathan Fritz, deputy assistant secretary of state for China, Mongolia, and Taiwan Coordination, said the U.S. would work to further strengthen the informal U.S.-Taiwanese relationship and “to counter the unilateral efforts to change the status quo.” Walter Lohman, director of the Asian Studies Center at the Heritage Foundation, called for closer ties between the U.S. and Taiwan, including a free trade agreement. “The timing is right on the U.S. side,” he said. In Taiwan, Tsai delivered a rousing victory speech that paid tribute to the “courage and persistence” of Taiwan. “This evening belongs to all the people of Taiwan,” she said. “Together we have held on to this land of freedom. Together we have held on to this stronghold of democracy.” “This is the prize of democracy, this is the weight of democracy, this is the taste of freedom,” she said. In a reference to Beijing, she said that she believed the “other side of the Taiwan Strait has heard us,” and called upon its leadership for dialogue. She called for all political parties in Taiwan to “unite and work together.” “Once again, today we hold on to freedom and democracy, tomorrow let us work together to overcome all sorts of challenges thrown at us,” she said. Russell Hsiao, executive director of Global Taiwan Institute, which co-hosted Saturday’s event, said, “This is indeed a remarkable demonstration of democracy in action.” “Not all countries take the risk of letting their average citizens elect leaders,” the Brookings Institution’s Richard Bush said during a panel discussion at the event. “Taiwan has been willing to take that risk for over 20 years.”

www.breitbart.com/news/china-slams-us-for-congratulating-tsai-on-taiwan-poll-win/Beijing (AFP) – China on Sunday slammed officials from the US and other countries for congratulating Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen after she was re-elected with a landslide victory in a stunning rebuke of Beijing’s campaign to isolate the self-ruled island. Tsai, who had pitched herself as a defender of liberal democratic values against an increasingly authoritarian China, secured a record-breaking win in Saturday’s presidential election. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, as well as top diplomats from Britain and Japan, issued statements congratulating Tsai and the island’s democratic elections. But Beijing, which views Taiwan as part of its territory, denounced their actions as violating the one-China principle. “The Chinese side expresses strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition to this,” said foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang. “We oppose any form of official exchange between Taiwan and countries that have established diplomatic relations with China,” he said in a statement. Chinese state media also sought to downplay Tsai’s victory and cast doubt on the legitimacy of her campaign by accusing the Taiwanese leader of “dirty tactics” and cheating. Tsai and her Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) used “dirty tactics such as cheating, repression and intimidation to get votes, fully exposing their selfish, greedy and evil nature”, said official news agency Xinhua in an op-ed Sunday. Xinhua also accused Tsai of buying votes, and said “external dark forces” were partly responsible for the election results. Beijing, which has vowed to one day take Taiwan — by force if necessary — loathes Tsai because she refuses to acknowledge the idea that Taiwan is part of “one China”. China doubled down on its “one-China principle” after Tsai’s victory, with Geng emphasising Sunday that “regardless of what happens in Taiwan, the basic facts won’t change: there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is part of China”. “The Chinese government’s position won’t change,” he added in a statement. -‘Orchestrating tensions’- Over the last four years, Beijing has ramped up economic, military and diplomatic pressure on the island, hoping it would scare voters into supporting Tsai’s opposition. But the strong-arm tactics have backfired and voters flocked to Tsai’s DPP, fuelled in part by China’s hardline response to months of huge and violent pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong. Chinese state media have accused Tsai, who frequently invokes Hong Kong’s protests as a warning about a Beijing-controlled Taiwan, of fear-mongering. Tsai and her party are “orchestrating tensions”, wrote the nationalistic Global Times on Saturday. At the end of 2019, the Taiwanese leader “wantonly hyped up the so-called threat from the Chinese mainland while slandering Han Kuo-yu’s mainland connections”, it said, referring to her Beijing-friendly main opponent from the Kuomintang party. Chinese state media also dismissed Saturday’s election results as an anomaly in long-term ties between Taiwan and the mainland, with Xinhua describing Tsai’s win as a “fluke”. “The fact that the Chinese mainland is getting increasingly stronger and the Taiwan island is getting weaker is an inevitable reality,” added the Global Times. “Recognising and complying with the reality is the only feasible option for Taiwan’s peaceful development.”

In the teaser James is seen reading the classic Gulag Archipelago by famed Soviet dissident Alexander Solzhenitsyn. The three-volume non-fiction series covers the life in a Soviet gulag, a Soviet forced labor camp.
Obviously, it is common knowledge that Bernie Sanders spent his honeymoon in the Soviet Union.
There is even video.

Bernie Sanders’s 2020 campaign saying Soviet gulags were actually a positive phenomenon, suggesting that some similar program could re-educate Trump supporters and billionaires. The video begins with a Project Veritas journalist asking an individual identified as Sanders organizer Kyle Jurek if “MAGA people” could be re-educated if Bernie wins the White House. “We gotta try,” Jurek replies. “In Nazi Germany, after the fall of the Nazi Party, there was a shit-ton of the populace that was fucking Nazi-fied.” “Germany had to spend billions of dollars re-educating their fucking people to not be Nazis,” he continues. “We’re probably going to have to do the same fucking thing here.” “That’s kind of what all Bernie’s whole fucking like, ‘hey, free education for everybody’ because we’re going to have to teach you to not be a fucking Nazi,” he added. In another part of the video, Jurek is seen discussing Soviet Union dictator Joseph Stalin’s use of gulags, where he claimed that the CIA was overly critical of them. “People were actually paid a living wage in the gulags, they conjugal visits gulags, gulags were meant for re-education,” he says.

www.dailywire.com/news/media-malpractice-cnn-blasted-for-question-siding-with-warren-over-bernieMEDIA MALPRACTICE’: CNN Blasted For Question Siding With Warren Over Bernie CNN was blasted on Tuesday night for siding with Elizabeth Warren over Bernie Sanders during the Democrat presidential debate when the far-left network asked a question that automatically presumed, without evidence, that Warren was telling the truth and Sanders was lying. The question stemmed from a shady report that CNN published on Monday that claimed, according to anonymous sources, that Sanders told Warren in a private meeting in December 2018 that he believed that a woman could not win the election. Serious doubt was immediately case on CNN’s report as video clips quickly emerged online from over 30 years ago that showed Sanders stating that he believed that a woman could be president. CNN’s Abby Phillips asked Sanders: “So, Senator Sanders, I do want to be clear here; you’re saying that you never told Senator Warren that a woman could not win the election?” “That is correct,” Sanders responded. Phillips then turned to Warren and asked, “Senator Warren, what did you think when Senator Sanders told you a woman could not win the election?” WATCH: The Hill personality Saagar Enjeti responded to Phillips’ question by writing: “Seriously it is outrageous that CNN would take Warren’s accusation as a statement of fact. Media malpractice.” Daily Caller Editor in Chief Geoffrey Ingersoll tweeted: “Incredible. The CNN moderator asked Warren as if it were de facto true that Bernie told her a woman couldn’t be president. I cannot believe a moderator did not ask her if it was true. She just said straight up what did you think when Bernie said that to you? I’m blown away.”

The shrinking field of candidates to take on Donald Trump in November paints a picture of the economy that doesn’t match reality. Actually, contends every 2020 Democratic presidential hopeful, the economy is in really bad shape. It is only working for the wealthiest among us, while leaving behind the poor, the working class, and the shrinking middle class.
Now, I suppose one could forgive the socialist contingent of the party for offering knee-jerk class-based bromides — their entire worldview, after all, is centered on class struggle — but even alleged moderates such as Joe Biden are falling back on economic arguments that are wholly disconnected from anything resembling reality.
Democrats could simply say: “Yes, it’s true that the economy has been doing rather well for most Americans since Barack Obama saved it from the nefarious clutches of the Republican party, but it’s important that we never forget the men and women — and especially minorities — who’ve yet to benefit from this recent economic uptick. We can do better!”
That, of course, would mean implicitly admitting that easing regulatory oversight, cutting taxes, and leaving the economy largely alone can be a successful formula for growth, which won’t do. So, instead, the Left continues to be consumed by the zero-sum fallacies of “inequality” to such an extent that it often sounds like it’s more interested in punishing the wealthy than in lifting the poor.
As far as I can tell, not a single moderator or reporter has ever asked Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren to explain exactly how instituting a punitive tax on the rich will create higher wages for low earners. Can either point to any time in history when tax hikes triggered organic wage growth or an increase in self-sufficiency among Americans?
Wages for the lowest-end earners, in fact, have grown faster than they have for higher-wage earners in recent years. Some of it is due to new minimum-wage laws — which, though they benefit very few, are a luxury we might be able to afford with a humming economy — and a tight job market that’s putting upward pressure on salaries.
Smart people kept telling us that unemployment wouldn’t go much lower than 4.7 percent. They told us tax hikes would hurt the economy. Well, the jobless rate averaged 3.7 percent through last year, and it’s now at 3.5, which is lower than at any other time since 1969. There are more open jobs than there are people trying to find a job.
In the last debate, Tom Steyer claimed that “90 percent of Americans have not had a raise for 40 years.” Politicians have been peddling the “wage stagnation” myth for a decade now. The notion that Americans make no more than their grandparents conveniently ignores a big expansion of employee-based benefits, increased efficiency, and technological advances that have, by any genuine real-world measure, vastly improved the economic life of the average American.
Yet, in last night’s debate, Biden again asserted, to applause, that the middle class was “being clobbered” and “killed.” (The middle class is actually quite alive. It isn’t losing ground to poverty. It has been losing ground to the upper-middle class for 40 years, however.)
Democrats will also demonize the profit-mongering villains of “Wall Street” for their supposed complicity in these supposed problems. Last year the S&P 500 rose by 29 percent, the NASDAQ by 35 percent, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average by 22 percent. For many progressives and an increasing number of populist conservatives, this kind of success merely reaffirms that bankers are profiting at the expense of average citizens. As Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez helpfully points out: “Economics 101 reminder: The stock market is NOT the economy.”
It’s true, the stock market is not the economy. But more Americans than ever are invested in it. When Ocasio-Cortez was born, fewer than 30 percent of Americans owned any form of stock; now that number is over 50 percent. More than that, Americans are increasingly reliant on their 401(k)s and pensions to live comfortably during retirement. Millions of other Americans depend on college-savings funds to help pay for their kids’ educations. And even those without a stock portfolio benefit from a vibrant market, which generates profits that are invested in hiring, innovation, and salaries while helping move money from unprofitable sectors to more profitable ones.
This chaotic churning of money turns off technocrats. Rather than taking the view that the growing economy is a messy but neutral marketplace where ingenuity and opportunity can create comfort and wealth, they see it as giant pile of money that should be “invested” in massive, state-mandated social-engineering projects. As far as I can tell, both Sanders and Warren are interested in effectively nationalizing large chunks of the health-care and energy sectors. And yet the media continue to cover the Democratic primary debates where such ideas are the currency of the realm as if they were completely normal.
They are not. A number of Democrats today argue that we should institute wide-ranging regulatory regimes such as the Green New Deal, which, whatever form it ends up taking, would necessitate the biggest tax increase in American history. There was not a single Democrat on the debate stage this week who didn’t support deliberately limiting and inflating the cost of our most efficient and affordable energy sources. This is not an ordinary debate.
Now, whether we’re living in the greatest economy the nation has ever experienced, as Donald Trump often contends, is up for debate. It’s safe to say we’ve been experiencing one of the strongest stretches in modern history since back when gridlock hit D.C. during the Obama administration.
The salient question is how many Americans really believe the economy is in bad shape. A recent CNN poll found that 76 percent believed that the economy was very or somewhat good — an almost a ten-point jump from a year earlier, and the highest level recorded since 2001. A Gallup poll finds historic highs in economic-confidence indicators as well.
Perhaps precisely because they’re confident in its health, only 11 percent view the economy as one of the most vital issues facing the country, per Gallup. This may well end up working against Trump’s reelection efforts. But it doesn’t justify the Democrats’ misleadingly gloomy depiction of American capitalism, because nothing can.

www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/warren-promises-to-bypass-congress-to-forgive-student-loan-debtWarren promises to bypass Congress to forgive student loan debt Elizabeth Warren promised to cancel student loan debt for up to 42 million Americans on the first day of her administration, bypassing Congress to do so administratively. The Democratic presidential candidate said, in a plan released Tuesday, that she would direct her secretary of education to “compromise and modify” federal student loans consistent with her plan to cancel up to $50,000 in debt for 95% of student loan borrowers. “We can’t afford to wait for Congress to act,” Warren said in the plan. The Massachusetts senator said that the Education Department, through the Higher Education Act of 1965, already has the authority to cancel student debt. finance.yahoo.com/news/elizabeth-warren-says-she-will-cancel-42-million-borrowers-student-debt-on-day-one-154007044.htmlElizabeth Warren says she will cancel 42 million borrowers’ student debt — on Day 1 Presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren doesn’t just want to cancel student debt for 42 million borrowers — she wants to do it on Day 1 of her presidency. In a new plan released Tuesday, the Massachusetts senator wrote that after years as a policymaker on Capitol Hill, “I learned two key things. First, the student debt crisis is deeper than many experts thought was possible. And second, the Department of Education has broad authority to end that crisis.”… Warren’s accelerated timeline of cancelling student debt for a wide swath of borrowers was noteworthy, experts said, because she was going to give the Education Department much more power to do so.

www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/01/15/poll-sen-manchin-to-face-strong-political-blowback-for-backing-trump-conviction-lose-many-voters/Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) “could face strong political blowback if he votes to convict President Donald Trump on one or two articles of impeachment passed by the Democratic-controlled House,” the results of a poll of West Virginia voters announced Friday revealed. The poll found that 48 percent of respondents would view Sen. Manchin more negatively if he voted to remove Trump from office. Meanwhile, 20 percent would view him more favorably. Nearly on third of voters were neutral (32 percent) on whether Manchin supported or opposed removing Trump from office. On Friday, the Hill wrote an article about the poll, noting that it had obtained the results exclusively. WPA Intelligence, the influential pro-taxpayer group that promotes limited government, carried out the recent poll of West Virginia voters on January 13 on behalf of the Club for Growth PAC. Citing a January 13 memo containing the results of the poll, the Hill reported The poll generally shows overwhelming opposition to removing Trump from office. Nearly seven in ten — 69 percent — West Virginia voters said they oppose doing so while only 27 percent voiced support. Overall, 67 percent of West Virginia voters approve of the job Trump is doing while 31 percent don’t approve and 2 percent had no opinion. … The poll also found a plurality of voters would view Manchin more favorably if he changed his party affiliation to Republican. Forty-three percent of voters said they would view Manchin more favorably if he were a Republican while 27 percent said they would see him less favorably and 30 percent said it wouldn’t make a difference. According to the conservative Club for Growth PAC, it conducted a survey of 500 likely voters in West Virginia conducted between January 7 and January 9. The survey found that across West Virginia there is “overwhelming opposition to removing Trump from office,” the Hill reported Friday. Overall, nearly seven out of every ten West Virginian respondents approved of the job Trump is doing, compared to three in ten who disprove. Two percent did not have an opinion on the matter. The PAC noted: A recent poll of West Virginia voters conducted by WPA Intelligence on behalf of Club for Growth PAC finds strong support for President Trump and opposition to the Senate removing him from office. Further, West Virginia voters would be less favorable toward Senator Joe Manchin if he voted to remove President Trump and would improve their feelings toward Senator Manchin if he broke with Democrats. Overall, “nearly seven-in-ten West Virginia voters say they oppose the Senate removing President Trump from office following the House impeaching him compared to around one-quarter who say they support removal,” WPA said. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who had been holding on to the articles of impeachment against Trump since they were approved on December 18, signaled they would finally submit the papers, which was formally and ceremoniously done Wednesday. Historically, the House hands over the articles to the Senate for a trial after it votes to impeach. This time, it appeared Pelosi wanted to dictate how the Senate should conduct the trial, something that irked Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

thefederalist.com/2020/01/16/2020-democrats-tell-moms-they-need-to-sideline-their-kids-to-be-successful/2020 Democrats Tell Moms They Need To Sideline Their Kids To Be Successful There are more ways to find fulfillment and meaning in life than through pursuit of career or income, but you wouldn’t know that from any of the answers that came from the debate stage. Libby EmmonsBy Libby Emmons JANUARY 16, 2020 The January 14 Democrat presidential debate was the last before primary voting begins in the Iowa caucuses. When the questions moved into child care, each of the answers exhibited more concern for the workforce than for the children their proposals would push into an institutional child-care system. The message was clear: moms belong at work, cranking out capital, and kids belong in daycare. Was it just me or did all of the candidates seem to think that the place for Mom is at work and the place for baby is daycare? — Caitlin Flanagan (@caitlinpacific) January 15, 2020 Des Moines Register chief politics reporter and debate moderator Brianne Pfannenstiel asked: “Many families don’t have the option of quitting a job, because that little bit of income is needed. That leads to families using whatever care they can find, and sometimes the results are deadly, as we’ve seen in Iowa over the last few years. How will you prioritize accessing quality, affordable, child care in your first 100 days in office?” “I meet professionals who sometimes say that they’re working in order to be able to afford child care in order to be working,” Pete Buttigieg responded. “We shouldn’t be afraid to put federal dollars into making that a reality… And we can do that, and until we do, this will be one of the biggest drivers of the gender pay gap. Because when somebody like the voter asking the question has to step out of the workforce for that reason, she is at a disadvantage when she comes back in, and that can affect her pay for the rest of her career.” As has been shown, much of the sexes’ pay gap is a result of women choosing to leave the economic workforce to enter the work of motherhood. They do this because in so many ways, raising a child is more fulfilling than either career-oriented work or wage labor. Little inside baseball- some women want to be the primary childcare providers for their children and find joy and satisfaction in doing so — Rebeccah Heinrichs (@rlheinrichs) January 15, 2020 “I’ve been there,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren said, bringing in her own experiences. “I remember when I was a young mom… it was child care that nearly brought me down… And I think about how many women of my generation just got knocked off the track and never got back on. How many of my daughter’s generation get knocked off the track and don’t get back on. How many mommies and daddies today are getting knocked off the track and never get back on.” The image that we are on tracks from the time we are very young, and don’t want to veer off them, belies the exuberance and real spontaneity of our ability to make choices and not stick with what we’ve been given. The consistent language about how hard it is to raise children makes it seem like kids are a burden. Raising children is not easy, but most moms would rather do it than foist off the responsibility onto someone else. “Every psychologist in the world knows,” Sen. Bernie Sanders chimed in, “zero through four are the most important years of human life, intellectually and emotionally. And yet our current child-care system is an embarrassment, it’s unaffordable. Child-care workers are making wages lower than McDonald’s workers. We need to fundamentally change priorities in America. We should not be one of the few countries that does not have universal, affordable, high-quality child care.” This is a call for taxpayer-funded daycare so moms can go right back to work after telling us that every expert agrees zero to four are the most important developmental years. Which is it, Bernie? “There should be free universal infant care,” said Joe Biden. “Every child, from three, four, five years old, will in fact have full schooling, and afterschool, which will relieve some of the burden. Secondly, I think we should have an $8,000 tax credit which would put 7 million back to work, they could afford to go back to work, and still care for their children.” Each candidate is so focused on making sure that parents can be away from their children for eight or more hours a day that they have completely lost sight of the fact that this is not really what moms want to do. Moms spend nine months carrying their children, and once those children are born, being away from them to earn a living pales in comparison to the urgent need to protect, nurture, and care. This is not something I believed before having a child. Raised by an absent mom who pursued a career and a present step-mother who was dedicated to child care gave me a unique perspective on the value of both women’s choices. But as a mother myself, nothing could have induced me to return to a 40-hour work week, and while my income has suffered for it, my life is far richer. Condoleezza Rice and Valerie Jarrett joined Leslie Stahl on her “Eye-Opening Women” series on CBS in 2013. Stahl remarked that “women need to tell their daughters they can have it all.” But both Rice and Jarrett, who served at high levels in the White House under George W. Bush and Barack Obama respectively, disagreed fully. “Well, there are phases to life,” Rice said. “You can’t have it all in every moment, every moment cannot contain ‘it all.’ For every moment to contain it all every moment would have to be ten moments long.” Jarret agreed. “I could not have done this job when my daughters were little, I just could not have done it.” She wanted to mother when her children were small, and when they were grown, she stepped back into a professional life. That’s because yes, women can have it all, but we can’t have it all at once. There’s nothing wrong with that admission. We don’t want our lives to be exactly the same, day in, day out, from the first moment we step through those nursery school doors until retirement. We want to fill our lives with love more than we want to fill it with pay stubs. Parenting isn’t just for weekends, it’s for life. There are more ways to find fulfillment and meaning in life than through pursuit of career or income, but you wouldn’t know that from any of the answers that came from the debate stage. Instead, the idea is that parents should give over their children to be raised by someone else, relinquishing those years that can never be replicated to chasing carrots of achievement that may pay off financially but never recoup the rewards of loving relationships. These candidates want to legislate how we work, how we parent, and how we live, and they offer little in return but a set of tracks, from which we must not diverge.

I agree with Senator Blackburn on this: Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) called for the four Senate Democrats running for president to recuse themselves from the upcoming impeachment trial in the US Senate. Senator Blackburn released her statement on Wednesday. www.blackburn.senate.gov/blackburn-calls-recusal-democrat-presidential-candidates-impeachment-process“Tomorrow, one hundred United States Senators will be sworn in to serve in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump. Four of those Senators must recuse themselves for their unparalleled political interest in seeing this President removed from office. These four Democrats, Senators Bennet, Klobuchar, Sanders, and Warren, cannot sit in judgment of the very President they seek to replace. To participate in this trial would be a failure of the oath they took to be an ‘impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws’. Their presidential ambitions prohibit their ability to view this trial through an objective lens.”

www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/01/16/homelessness-1-issue-for-california-voters-in-2020/Homelessness #1 Issue for California Voters in 2020 Homelessness is the number one issue for California voters heading into the 2020 presidential primary in March, according to a new poll by the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC), as reported by the Sacramento Bee. More than 150,000 California residents are homeless, according to the latest counts. The Bee reported Wednesday night: The poll finds a plurality of Democrats, Republicans and Independents likely to vote in the state’s March 3, 2020 primary election in agreement that homelessness is the most important issue for Gov. Gavin Newsom and state lawmakers to work on in 2020. Twenty-one percent of Democrats and Independents called it the top issue, compared to 29 percent of Republicans. Housing affordability and the environment were the next highest priorities for likely Democratic primary voters, while Republicans were more concerned about immigration and taxes.

www.dailywire.com/news/watch-graham-crushes-cynicism-of-pelosi-schumer-i-think-2020-is-going-to-be-a-blowoutWATCH: Graham Crushes Cynicism Of Pelosi, Schumer: ‘I Think 2020 Is Going To Be A Blowout’ On Monday, appearing on “Hannity,” Senator Lindsey Graham fired off a series of salvos at the Democratic party, asserting that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) was not seeking the truth, but rather cynically using the impeachment process against President Trump to destroy executive privilege in an attempt to take back the Senate, that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) prematurely “spiked the ball at halftime,” when she celebrated sending over the articles of impeachment, and that “2020 will be a blowout” because the American people “jealously guard the right to pick their own leaders,” adding, “I think they’re going to hold it against politicians who try to take that right away.” Graham started by explaining what was to come next in the impeachment process: Well, the House will be able to make their case for 24 hours; hopefully we do this in a couple of days. Then the defense team of the president will be able to make their case based on the record established in the House. Then they’ll be an effort to call witnesses, to ask for documents, and I hope that nobody will be called as a witness because every witness being requested by the Democrats were available to the House. They chose not to call them. Executive privilege applies to all these witnesses. So I’m hoping this can be done in about a week and I predict a bipartisan acquittal of President Trump. Hannity asked, “Why would some of your colleagues in the Senate want to do the House’s job, constitutional job?” Graham replied: Well, I would tell my colleagues on the Republican side that Chuck Schumer is not seeking the truth. If you think Chuck Schumer is trying to find out what happened here, you’re missing a lot. Chuck Schumer is trying to take back the Senate. He’s trying to make the argument that if you don’t call a witness you’re trying to cover up for the president. The truth of the matter is that Chuck Schumer is willing to destroy executive privilege. I can only imagine what he would be saying if this were a Democratic president. Who is he asking for? The national security advisor to the president, his chief of staff, the Secretary of State, and the OMB director, four people essential to any presidency, and he could give a damn if Trump loses executive privilege. Graham continued, “They just hate this guy so much, Sean, from the time he got elected to now; it’s been an unending effort to destroy his presidency. We lost five seats as Republicans when we impeached Clinton; people thought we went too far.” He concluded: I think 2020 is going to be a blowout. I think what Nancy Pelosi did, to spike the ball at halftime; the score at impeachment is one to nothing us; they lost one Democratic seat by impeaching the president. By the time the trial’s over and we have an election in November, there’s going to be a backlash and let me tell you why: most Americans jealously guard the right to pick their own leaders. I think they’re going to hold it against politicians who try to take that right away. We’re going to get the House back; we’re going to keep the Senate majority and President Trump’s gonna be reelected, and one of the reasons is the way they’ve conducted themselves.

www.redstate.com/elizabeth-vaughn/2020/01/16/766723/Mind-Blowing! 58% Of Attendees at Trump’s Wisconsin Rally Were NOT Republicans, Up from 43% in Ohio Several days ago, Trump’s campaign manager Brad Parscale posted statistics from last week’s rally held in Toledo, OH, which showed that 43% of attendees identified as either Democratic or Independent. I called that figure “stunning” in a recent post. But the same statistic from Trump’s Tuesday night rally in Wisconsin can only be described as staggering. 57.8% of registrants identified as either Democratic or Independent. Obviously, as a conservative, I am overjoyed at these numbers. I take them to mean that this group is looking for an alternative to the current field of candidates running for the Democratic presidential nomination. Parscale’s past rally reports have always identified the number of Democrats who show up, which has averaged between 22-23%.

Brexit related: www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/01/18/boris-announces-brexit-day-bash-but-no-big-ben-bong/Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s office has revealed the plans to mark the UK leaving the EU at 11 pm on January 31st, 2020, but Big Ben ringing in the new era of British history is not amongst them. On Friday, Number 10 confirmed that there will be a light display livestreamed during the count-down which will include a clock projected onto the walls of Downing Street with buildings around Whitehall being lit, as well. Union flags are to be flown on the flag poles surrounding Parliament Square, opposite the Palace of Westminster, while the prime minister will address the nation in the evening. In a gesture marking the new Conservative government’s pledge to be the party of the working classes across the country, a special Cabinet meeting will be held in the North of England to discuss how to “spread prosperity and opportunity across our great Union of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland”. Commemorative 50p coins bearing the phrase, “peace, prosperity and friendship with all nations” and stamped with the Brexit date will also be put into circulation that day. A Number 10 spokesman told The Telegraph: “We hope to bring the nation forward as we all move forward to a brighter future. After three years of rancour, it is now time turn the page as one united country.” However, there is the obvious omission of the Victorian clock ringing in the new era. There has been a dispute between Parliamentary Brexiteers, Number 10, and the House of Commons Commission over whether the clock, which is currently at limited functionality due to conservation works, can be rung. Brexiteer MPs tried and were unsuccessful in adding an amendment to the Brexit bill ensuring the bells ring in Brexit, and while StandUp4Brexit has managed to raise more than £250,000 of the half a million quoted to restore a clapper to the clock, the Commission said that it might not be able to accept the public donations without changing parliamentary rules on revenue. Prime Minister Johnson had publicly green-lighted the prospect of crowdfunding, saying earlier in the week that his team was “working up a plan so people can bung a bob for a Big Ben bong”. However, after the Commission’s attempts to block the plan, the prime minister’s office all but admitted that it was impossible, with a source saying: “I don’t think we ever thought that it would be as complex as the House of Commons authorities have since set out.” Big Ben Brexit Bong in Doubt, Commons Commission May Refuse Crowdfunding t.co/QJH9B5Ix9b— Breitbart London (@breitbartlondon) January 17, 2020 There is also the question of the £500,000 bill, which the Commons authorities said was needed to restore the temporary clapper used to mark New Year’s and armistice day, erect scaffolding around the structure, and the knock-on costs of delays to the ongoing conservation work to the Queen Elizabeth II Tower. However, that quote may have been vastly inflated — by 35 times — with the cost of the clock to ring in New Year’s costing just £14,200. Sir Paul Beresford told MPs in Parliament on Friday that: “The costs associated with striking Big Ben on Remembrance Sunday and New Year’s Eve in 2019 were £14.2k including VAT on each occasion.” Mark Francois, the Conservative MP who led the Commons campaign and StandUp4Brexit crowdfunding for Big Ben to ring in the new post-EU era, told The Telegraph: “I have always suspected that these costs were inflated but I never dreamt it was 35 fold! What was becoming an embarrassment is now evolving into a scandal. “I will be writing to the head of the National Audit Office [Parliament’s spending watchdog] on Monday morning formally ask them to investigate the entire Elizabeth Tower project.” However, Nigel Farage’s street party in Parliament Square has been approved, and Britons are able to register their interest in tickets for the 10,000-strong Brexiteer bash. First NAFTA got redone, then we were removed from the TPP, then trade deal with South Korea, then China. Next up, a EU-less Britain,(which would be a huge middle finger to both the EU & Liberals state side lol)? www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/01/18/boris-start-trade-negotiations-us-before-eu-report/Prime Minister Boris Johnson could start trade negotiations with the United States before the European Union, signalling to Brussels he is serious about diverging from the bloc after Brexit. The Telegraph reports that British civil servants are drafting the pros and cons of prioritising the American deal, with a government source telling the newspaper: “We mean business and we’re not messing around.” The comments come after members of Boris Johnson’s Cabinet and the U.S. ambassador to the UK Woody Johnson have urged the prime minister to at least pursue both sets of trade talks at the same time in order to signal to Brussels that the country will not be held back in its aim of signing global trade agreements while waiting for the EU to progress negotiations. The source told the newspaper: “The political signal would be — ‘We’ve got the capacity to do this at the same time, don’t hold this up’.” The newspaper reports that British negotiators have prepared documents for accelerated talks with their American counterparts who are said to be “impatient to get things started”. Talks could start as early as mid-February, around the time that the prime minister is to visit Washington, D.C. “There is so much political will on both sides for this, the understanding is that the first talks round will come very rapidly after the two-week review period, which could mean as early [to] late February,” the source said. Ireland Declares It Is ‘On Team EU’, Wants UK to Obey EU Rules Post-Brexit t.co/ZMGRyQRGrA— Breitbart London (@breitbartlondon) January 17, 2020 The UK is set to leave the EU at the end of this month, but the EU has already started to make threats, suggesting European leaders’ willingness to agree on a trade deal is dependent upon the UK continuing to abide by EU regulations — which themselves could stop the UK signing FTAs with other countries. Prime Minister Johnson is said to have privately told the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen during a Downing Street meeting this week that upcoming talks between London and Brussels will be based on negotiating an ambitious FTA, “not on alignment”. The reported remarks signal Prime Minister Johnson’s commitment to making the UK globally competitive after Brexit and that he is prepared to walk away from the EU without a trade deal.

www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/people-will-sit-at-home-sanders-supporters-threaten-to-boycott-vote-if-democrats-nominate-a-centristBernie Sanders supporters are warning that a lack of enthusiasm for Joe Biden could bring about the same result that nominating another establishment Democrat did four years ago: electing Donald Trump. Sanders backers fret the socialist Vermont senator, 78, is being consistently ignored and underestimated by Beltway insiders and a Washington-based press corps — the same bunch, in their view, who failed to predict Trump’s 2016 White House win and were sure Hillary Clinton, who beat Sanders for the Democratic nomination, would easily prevail. They’re particularly steamed Sanders, a socialist who has been in Congress since 1991, isn’t getting his due though he’s proven to have staying power in public opinion and fundraising, even after suffering a heart attack last October. As of last week, he leads a tight four-horse race in Iowa ahead of the first-in-the-nation caucuses on Feb. 3, raising a record figure of $34.5 million in the final financial quarter of 2019 for a total of $96 million. Nominating a career center-left candidate such as Biden, the former vice president and 36-year Delaware senator, would dampen enthusiasm by the liberal populist grassroots, Sanders backers contend.

www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/01/18/chancellor-tells-uk-businesses-there-will-be-no-alignment-with-eu-rules/Chancellor of the Exchequer Sajid Javid has told businesses to prepare for the UK to diverge from EU regulations, saying “we will not be a ruletaker” after the transition period. “There will not be alignment, we will not be a ruletaker, we will not be in the single market and we will not be in the customs union — and we will do this by the end of the year,” Mr Javid told the Financial Times in an interview published on Friday. Urging companies to “adjust” to the UK setting its own regulations, the chancellor added: “We’re also talking about companies that have known since 2016 that we are leaving the EU.” The EU has said that the UK must remained aligned to EU regulations in order to secure a trade deal with the bloc at the end of the transition period in December 2020. However, the British government has maintained that it wishes the country to diverge in order to become more globally competitive and open to international trade deals, which might otherwise be hampered by continuing to abide by Brussels’ rules. The EU has recently threatened to block the City of London from its financial markets unless it continues with regulatory alignment. However, even Remainers such as former chancellor George Osborne and outgoing Governor of the Bank of England Mark Carney have warned against continued close alignment. Boris Could Start Trade Negotiations with U.S. Before EU: Report t.co/SU30Og8kQq— Breitbart London (@breitbartlondon) January 18, 2020 Mr Osborne had said that “some freedom to be a globalised financial centre would not be a bad thing”, while Mr Carney admitted: “It is not desirable at all to align our approaches, to tie our hands and to outsource regulation and effectively supervision of the world’s leading complex financial system to another jurisdiction.” During the interview, Mr Javid was asked how the UK will trade with the EU outside of Customs Union rules, with the chancellor observing: “Japan sells cars to the EU but they don’t follow EU rules.” The Chancellor of the Exchequer’s remarks signal strongly to the EU that the UK is fully ready to end the trade relationship with the bloc without a deal in 11 months’ time and come as reports reveal that Prime Minister Boris Johnson is considering prioritising a trade deal with the United States over the European Union. A government source said that it would show the EU that the UK is serious about walking away without a deal, unless it is favourable to the UK, saying: “We mean business and we’re not messing around.”
