To be fair, Langford had to sleep in his office and shower in the gym each morning for a few months when he was elected to the House.
Let’s see what her net worth ends up being after a few years of $140k or whatever Congress critters make.

It's hard to believe after raising millions of dollars there isn't some to slip then a few bucks to get by. I'm sure Bernie has room at his beach house.

www.dailywire.com/news/38391/ocasio-cortez-im-already-being-discriminated-james-barrettOcasio-Cortez: I'm Already Being Discriminated Against On Capitol Hill "Next time try believing women + people of color when they talk about their experiences being a woman or person of color." Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was only elected a week ago, but she's already causing a stir in Washington. Her first big appearance was at a climate change protest — at the office of Rep. Nancy Pelosi, who the representative-elect has signaled she isn't ready to support for her bid to take back the role of House Speaker. The nation's youngest congresswoman has also been sounding the alarm over racism and sexism she suggests she's already experienced on Capitol Hill. "Dem Spouse + Member luncheon were at the same time today. I was sent to spouse event," she wrote late Wednesday. "Last night I was stopped bc it was assumed I was an intern/staffer." "Next time try believing women + people of color when they talk about their experiences being a woman or person of color," she concluded. On Tuesday, Ocasio-Cortez triggered some of her fellow Democrats when she made a surprise appearance at a sit-in protest by a group of climate activists calling themselves the "Sunrise Movement" staged outside of the highest ranking Democrat in the House, and her potential future boss. The Daily Wire's Emily Zanotti reports: www.dailywire.com/news/38317/uh-oh-alexandria-ocasio-cortezs-first-appearance-emily-zanottiOcasio-Cortez addressed the protesters, who were holding signs asking for a "Green New Deal" from Democrats in charge, and demanding "Green Jobs for All," shook hands, and gave high-fives to the 50 or so protesters who blocked the entrance to Pelosi's office. The event marked Ocasio-Cortez's first visit to the soon-to-be Speaker's office, and leftists were pretty miffed that she introduced herself to her Democratic colleagues not by embracing inter-party collegiality, but by openly disagreeing with her party's long-time leadership. The newly elected representative slammed her critics online Thursday. "When I respectfully join young people in an action promoting climate action while encouraging leadership decisions, it’s 'divisive,'" she wrote. "Yet when *other* Dems hold the Speaker vote hostage unless conservative concessions are made, it’s business as usual." In the post, she links to a report by The Hill about a bid to rob Pelosi of her throne. Here's how the piece begins: thehill.com/homenews/house/416529-new-hurdle-arises-to-pelosis-march-to-speakershipDemocrats in the Problem Solvers Caucus are proving to be the latest hurdle to Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) rise to the Speakership. Ten Democrats in the bipartisan, 48-member group are vowing to withhold their support for Pelosi — or any other Speaker nominee — unless the candidate commits, in writing, to certain changes in House rules designed to empower rank-and-file lawmakers and break partisan gridlock. Pelosi, while voicing general support for the group’s ideas, has not issued a written commitment to adopting them. And the Democratic co-chairman of the group, Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), said Tuesday that he won’t support her without such assurances. Ocasio-Cortez has also been in the news this week for her opposition to Amazon's big HQ2 deal, which she touted as an example of how she can unite people while holding true to her principles.

So hjow does voting for Speaker work? I know it doesn't actually have to be a member of Congress. If the GOP votes for someone and that person gets top votes over the Dems would he/she be Speaker? Does it have to be a Dem?

High school was 40 years ago. I've maybe thought about these details like never. I could have filled in the gaps with a click of a mouse. Instead I left it here to maybe divert all the posts from this ridiculous recount. Next time I'll keep it to myself.

Heres some info from Wiki: I see that. My question was one night they were saying the GOP could have 206 votes. Maybe 207. They showed how many votes Pelosi would need to beat them. They used some formula including seats and those voting present, etc. Can Jordan also run? If he got all 207 votes and Pelosi only had...say...195 would he be Speaker?

I dont think Jordan can be the majority leader because hes not in the majority. Im honestly not entirely certain what all the rules are though.

thehill.com/homenews/house/417289-ocasio-cortez-backs-campaigns-to-replace-dem-incumbents-with-progressivesRep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), implored more than 700 attendees of a Justice Democrats strategy call to run for office against incumbent Democrats as well as Republicans in their home districts. During the video call with supporters Saturday evening, Ocasio-Cortez remarked that her own journey to the House began on the other end of a Justice Democrats strategy call while calling on supporters to mount similar bids in their own districts around the country. “Long story short, I need you to run for office,” she said on the call. “All I’m asking you to do is throw your hat in the ring, say ‘what the heck.’ ” Ocasio-Cortez was elected Tuesday after running a successful primary against Rep. Joe Crowley, who was House Democratic Caucus Chairman. The incoming freshman Democrat added that she and other members of the Justice Democrats, a group of progressive Democrats seeking to shift the Democratic Party left, would support challenges to incumbent Democrats they view as insufficiently aligned with the views of progressives in the party, particularly on the issue of corporate campaign donations.

She will be a Gold Mine for Reps in fund raising-----She is dumber than a box of hair Well they'd better figure out a way to run against her. They barely put up someone with a pulse. There's only a handful of GOP that would even challenge her in the House. All the defenders would scream. Woman. Minorities. Maybe even the gays.

Listening to her latest interview over a variety of subjects. All the GOP needed to do was find some sharp, young person - a woman would be nice - and put it to someone like her Nothing sleezey. Just make her discuss the issues and when she says something make her back it up. Don't know if we would have won but it would be worth it to not have her in one of the chambers of the government.
