I've followed the " fracking " issue for at least the past 10 years. When environmental groups protest " fracking " or fossil fuels , even from the beginning there was always a segment that is anti-capitalism. They started on the edge of that movement, but have slowly worked their way closer to mainstream of the groups.
Sierra Club , NRDC, World Wildlife Fund ........ they all have begun advocating reduced economic growth. They want our economy to " de-grow " . And the theme that capitalism and addressing climate change, are not compatible has become more mainstream with them.
That's very easy to get to that point, just look at gasoline prices. It was free market capitalism that lowered prices. Obama and the greenies and OPEC were very happy with $100 oil that brought about $4 gasoline. And actually, all of them would not be adverse to $5 gasoline or higher. The only way to truly address climate change is to make the price of fossil fuel use high.
So this Green New Deal not only attempts to address climate change, but it also advocates more govt control of the economy, in order to address the pain to consumers and people who work in oil/gas , and economies that depend upon oil/gas.
Socialism is their answer. Cuz at the same time, they can use social justice, income inequality, or any other social issue to sell the public on their plan. Its interesting that Josh Fox , the producer of the bogus debunked " documentary " , Gasland ........ has now shifted his attention to social justice.
We'll see how far this gets. But bottome line, climate change can not be addressed without causing a lot of economic pain to a lot of people.

IDK who this guy is , IDK a thing about the National Journal, so I have no idea what kind of following he has , but I thought he was pretty spot on and then I read the replies to his Tweet , and wow, this Green New Deal has a lot of support. These people are willing to trade air travel for trains.

Author Shellenberger is an award winning environmentalist who thinks the only way to combat climate change is through nuclear energy. The greenies are split on nuclear. This article has so many different angles, but he gives a great history of nuclear energy and why it lost political favor. Along with all the reasons renewables will never power our economy. Its a good read. There's far more to this climate change debate, than CO2 emissions. If as AOC says, we've got 12 years to get off fossil fuels, then she and her minions actually believe that, then they would be crying for nuclear, because if the 12 year thing is true, nuclear is the fastest way to get off fossil fuels. I can tell you, that oil and gas stocks move on the price of oil. Our elected politicians have little influence on the price of oil and if there was any president who wanted to see $100 oil or higher, it was Obama , to please his environmental left base. Cheap oil is their nightmare.

If a Senator or House Rep wanted to move the price of a bbl of oil, I would say there's really nothing they can do. The president has little power over raising the price of oil, although, Trump has been successful at convincing the Sauds to over produce and lower the price of oil.
She is pure stupid........pure fucking ignorant stupid. She needs to go buy a 1,000 shares of Exxon, hold the stock for 10 years, then come back and play her little stupid game.

The Texas oil/gas industry, donated almost as much money to Beto ( or whatever they call him ) as they did to Ted Cruz.
And a lot of the younger oil and gas employees individual contributions, went to Beto.

Both Exxon and Chevron, the only two " Big Oil " companies still inexistence in America, favor a Carbon Tax.
And domestic USA is neither companies primary area of operations. They are almost entirely international. Bribing Senators or Presidents, does them little good.
And the companies that operate in the shale plays, are really getting no help from anyone in government. They had their problem with Obama trying to use regulation to stop them from raising production.
Can't believe how stupid this entire line of thinking is ........... its mind boggling. As long as dumbasses like this little girl can sit in in Congress, then surely America as we know it, is nothing but a big turd circling the bowl.

That's it , period. What the fuck could an oil company buy in DC, that would further their business and prevent the country from doing whatever they think needs to be done about climate change  ?
